Summary

As a member of a small station HQ team you will be responsible for all military stores, provide procurement expertise to the Head of Establishment and provide store accounting and provision of logistics advice where required. You will also be responsible for the implementation and maintenance of MOD & UK StratCom Health & Safety, Fire and Environmental Protection Policies and National Legislation at MOD Garats Hay.

Job description

As Logistics Manager you will be the focal point for military stores at MOD Garats Hay. You will be the MJDI and CP&F interface and liaise with supporting StratCom units to facilitate an effective supply chain for the site and work with the onsite contractors to ensure the site is provisioned correctly.

As the Health, Safety, Fire and Environmental Protection Officer you will provide HS&EP advice to the Head of Establishment and maintain HS&EP management system policies and procedures. You will be the assurance lead and undertake all assurance/audit inspections and provide mandated reporting to COS HLB, DIO and UK Stratcom CESO. Other duties will include:
  • Writing Risk Assessments for the site and ensuring these are kept up to date
  • Represent the HOE at COS HLB HS&EP Committee Meetings
  • You will promote a positive health and safety culture and take the lead on all thing’s sustainability through proactive engagement with stakeholders.
  • Advise on training requirements and provide arrivals briefing to all personnel on H&S and Fire at MOD Garats Hay.
  • Liaise with DIO on all HS&EP related matters that affect the unit infrastructure and with line managers on all HS&EP matters which affect processes. Where required the supervision of contractors and consultants to ensure their activities do not place the unit at risk of con-compliance as the unit 4 C’s Co-ordinator. (Competence, Control, Co-operation and Communication)
  • Reacting to incidents appropriately to reduce the possibility of harm occurring in the future and ensuring they are reported. Ensuring proportionate investigations are undertaken in accordance with policy and lessons learned promulgated to all stakeholders effectively.

Responsibilities

We are looking for someone who will be able to take on this newly established role and make it their own. You will be part of a very small team and as such will wear a number of hats. It is essential that you are self motivated and able to work independently.

Knowledge and experience of working with Military Stores, MJDI and CP&F is highly desirable for the Logistics Manager element of this role. You will be responsible for liaising with our supporting Parent Unit with regards to our MJDI Accounts and will be responsible for stores accounting and assurance when required.

As the Health, Safety, Fire and Environmental Protection Officer you will have full responsibility for all HS&EP and Fire Policies and Procedures on site. You will be appointed as the Establishment Fire Focal Point and hold responsibility for the Site Fire Safety Management Plan and ensuring that Fire Risk Assessments are undertaken. You will be the Occurrence Manager for MOD Garats Hay on DURALS (Defence Unified Reporting and Lessons System) and responsible for reporting all incidents and near misses. You will also be the Designated Supporting Officer (DSO) and will support to the Contract Supporting Officer (CSO) in providing assurance to the Soft FM Contract.

It is essential for candidates to have NEBOSH General Health and Safety Certificate or NEBOSH Construction Health and Safety Certificate LV3. Previous experience of working within Health and Safety Department on a Military Establishment is desirable.
