Job OverviewVacancy Ref: 100-MED-WGH-115-L1Post: Locum Consultant Radiologist with a special interest in Breast RadiologyBase: Withybush General Hospital, HaverfordwestSalary: £98,897 per annumHywel Dda Radiology is looking to recruit a dynamic and motivated Locum Consultant Radiologist with a special interest in breast radiology. Applicants will be experienced in general radiology and symptomatic breast radiology. The Health Board offers an excellent opportunity to join a progressive team of consultants and contribute to the on-going development of radiological services within the Hywel Dda University Health Board.Main duties of the jobThe successful candidate will be based at Withybush General Hospital which delivers symptomatic breast clinic services for the Pembrokeshire locality. There will be an expectation to travel and work at the other two sites in Hywel Dda which deliver breast services in line with service need. Breast services are currently delivered at Bronglais General Hospital, Aberystwyth, Withybush General Hospital, Pembrokeshire and Prince Philip Hospital, Llanelli. Potential candidates should be committed to team working, evolving services for patients utilising new evidence based techniques and technologies as they become available. The successful candidate will join the Health Board wide Radiology team along with the breast care multidisciplinary team.Out Of Hours (OOH) on-call is currently outsourced and completed remotely by an online Teleradiology provider, therefore the successful applicant will not be expected to participate routinely to provide this service. However, flexible working practices are encouraged to increase the proportion of services provided locally whilst improving work-life balance for colleagues. We currently operate a second on-call rota locally for the rare occasions where we have IT issues with teleradiology outsourcing.Working for our organisationHywel Dda University Health Board is the planner and provider of NHS healthcare services for people in Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and its bordering counties. Our 11,000 members of staff provide primary, community, in-hospital, mental health and learning disabilities services for around 384,000 people across a quarter of the landmass of Wales. We do this in partnership with our three local authorities and public, private and third sector colleagues, including our volunteers, through:
  • Four main hospitals: Bronglais General in Aberystwyth, Glangwili General in Carmarthen, Prince Philip in Llanelli and Withybush General in Haverfordwest
  • Seven community hospitals: Amman Valley and Llandovery in Carmarthenshire; Tregaron, Aberaeron and Cardigan in Ceredigion; and Tenby and South Pembrokeshire Hospital Health and Social Care Resource Centre in Pembrokeshire
  • 48 general practices (four of which are managed practices), 47 dental practices (including three orthodontic), 99 community pharmacies, 44 general ophthalmic practices (43 providing Eye Health Examination Wales and 34 low vision services) and 17 domiciliary only providers and 11 health centres
  • Numerous locations providing mental health and learning disabilities services
