Loans Officer

Location:Rotherham

Salary:£19,543 per annum

The organisation is a not-for-profit social enterprise established in 2003 to provide smart savings and affordable loan solutions to the community. They are now looking to strengthen their team with the recruitment of a Loans Officer.

The Role

As Loans Officer you will be the first point of contact for existing and potential loan applicants, providing timely information and advice, sanctioning and processing loans, following the organisation’s procedures and maintaining high levels of customer care. As well as dealing promptly with loan requests and enquiries, you will assist customers with the completion of relevant documentation and ensure that accurate financial records are maintained.

To be successful in this role you will be an individual who contributes effectively to a team environment as well as having the ability to work independently, who is able to communicate effectively and explain financial information clearly. Experience of working in a similar role in a busy team and having a keen eye for detail and accuracy are essential, as are good customer service and complaint handling skills.

Knowledge and experience of credit unions and dealing with financially excluded and vulnerable customers would be advantageous, but is not essential.

Qualifications

Role Requirements
  • 5 GCSE’s (Grades A-C) including Maths and English or equivalent
  • Working towards an accounting qualification (Desirable)
  • Training undertaken in computerised accounting systems (Desirable)
Experience
  • Experience of assessing and granting personal loans
  • Experience of working in a similar role within a small, busy team
  • Experience of using computerised systems, including spreadsheets and databases
  • Knowledge and Experience of credit unions and financial exclusion issues (Desirable)
  • Experience of supervising volunteers (Desirable)
