Job Purpose
As a Line Leader you will have operational responsibility to deliver the daily plan. Leading a small production team, you will work with the Area Leader to create a positive working environment, where your team is able to achieve the site strategy.
You will achieve this by leading a production team in manufacturing products that exceed customer expectations whilst adhering to all required standards, meeting, and exceeding quality standards, achieving targets on time and in full, within budget whilst behaving in a safe manner, ensuring Food Safety and maintaining hygiene standards.
Main Duties
Safety
- Complete pre-start safety checks and ensure line settings are correct
- Ensures ’Near Misses’ and ’Accident/Incidents’ are recorded and reported
- Continuously consider safety standards in the work area
- Ensure team arrive promptly and dressed appropriately so as not to delay start up time
- Complete visual checks of work areas ensuring GMP standards are followed; PPE requirements, clean as you go and no floor waste
- Promote the importance of handwashing and following changing procedures
- Promote teamwork and shared responsibility for Food Safety, quality and hygiene standards
- Work with Slicing Optimiser to agree handover of line
- Know what good looks like in terms of quality, yields and throughput
- Ensure product, appearance, placement, weight, packaging, gas sealing meets the specification
- If product is not at the correct quality standard, stop line and follow escalation process
- Ensure effective metal detection and/or Xray processes are taking place
- Complete paperwork accurately and at time of checks
- Accountability for your line meeting the plan
- Ensure product and dry goods are available ready for line start up
- Escalate material supply issues
- Be responsible for quality and compliance with customer standards of final product
- Ensure team take timely breaks, ensuring continuous production is maintained
- Co-ordinate change overs ensuring team are aware of responsibilities and execute effectively
- Capture SIC data, and ensure data captured is accurate and signed off by the Area Leader
- Escalate equipment damage or mechanical issues to Area Leaders
- Co-ordinate team and ensure line is fully manned
- Ensure line is set up to achieve optimum run speeds, yields, giveaway and quality whilst ensuring manufactured product is within specification
- Ensure the Slicing Operator is effectively managing waste, yield and throughput
- Understand required targets and how to achieve these targets
- Be fully trained and able to complete all roles within team
- Build positive working relationships will team and drive performance through commitment and motivating factors.
- Show empathy and emotional intelligence during challenging times for team members and escalate welfare concerns to Area Leader.
- Set improvement standards and performance manage team, escalate team performance concerns to Area Leader
- Ensure team have access to training required to be effective in their roles
- Ensure team are multiskilled and job rotation is taking place
- Be at production line 30 minutes prior to the shift start
- Be a champion of change
- Additional Activities as required by the Operations Management Team
- Group and site induction.
- Level 2 H&S awareness.
