The Library Experience Officer will ensure operations at Chesterfield Library run smoothly, delivering a high-quality service to students. Time will also be spent supporting the work of the Library teams at Buxton. The Officer will motivate and develop the Library teams to deliver innovative services and ensuring students are at the heart of every activity.
We seek a friendly person who can quickly build rapport with people and someone who is passionate about student engagement and learning. We will support you in delivering an excellent Library service at Chesterfield and Buxton by providing training with our Library systems and current practice.

The work pattern will be as follows:
Wednesday - Friday: 8.30am - 3.30pm at Chesterfield
Principal accountabilities
- To ensure the Library operations deliver high quality service to all Library users at all times; organising the work of the team and the maintenance of buildings, systems and spaces
- Take the lead for the organisation of services and maintenance of service standards at the Chesterfield Library, supporting service provision at Buxton Library as required
- To deal efficiently and effectively with all service users, throughout the process, offering excellent customer service and ensuring the team maintain standards and make arrangements to ensure cover for service provision at all times
- Ensure high quality service delivery and contribute to establishing and maintaining a high level of service, in line with Library policies and procedures and in order to deliver plans for the Library
- Contribute to the development of procedures, processes and evaluation methods for the Library Service and take responsibility for implementation and reporting
- Ensure Library users receive accurate and timely access to services, information and resources and to appropriate spaces
- Take the initiative and apply judgement to deliver excellence in service and maintain standards
- Make effective use of Library systems and technology to deliver services and self-service and contribute to the development of systems
- Ensure all activities are fully compliant with legislative requirements and internal policies
- Oversee day-to-day work of the teams, ensuring a friendly, informed and efficient welcome to all students and visitors to the Library
- Contribute to the achievement of targets for the Library Experience Manager and provide management information to track progress, including visitor numbers and feedback on service experiences
- To be an effective team player and take an active role in the Library and wider CSL team, including working flexibly across CSL to provide support when required
- Assist in the organisation of university events, e.g. Open days, inductions and exhibitions
- Maintain a safe working environment and ensure compliance with legislation, equal opportunities, SENDA, DDA

Essential Criteria
Qualifications
- HND/Foundation Degree or equivalent qualification
Experience
- Experience of and ability to organise, prioritise and delegate tasks
- Proven commitment to working with a customer focus and delivering high standards of service
- Excellent communication skills including experience of writing documents (proof-reading effectively with good grammar and spelling) and communicating innovatively using a variety of medium
Skills, knowledge & abilities
- Self-motivated with excellent organisational skills, able to work on own initiative and prioritise workloads
- Understanding of the Library user experience and Library systems and resources and able to empathise with the challenges experienced by students as well as understand the opportunities University presents
- Ability to work effectively in a team and adaptable to team needs, able to network effectively across a large organisation
- Ability to influence and motivate others, organise the work of teams to ensure service is maintained and excellence in customer experience is delivered at all times
- Data and information skills and ability to present and use data accurately for service planning, delivery, monitoring and reporting purposes
- Ability to analyse and assess problems, identify solutions and translate plans into actions. Makes informed decisions
- Is a positive role model to the team and focussed on the service users and need of the service at all time
- Is able to take responsibility and flexible to work across teams when needed
Business requirements
- Willingness and flexibility to travel between University sites in a time and cost-effective manner
- Ability to be flexible within the working pattern to meet the business needs, including working evenings, weekends or extended hours
