Legal Counsel, UK and Ireland

Implement global strategy and advise local management, businesses and functions on legal and integrity issues relating to the relevant areas of responsibility to ensure full compliance with Group directives and instructions, as well as local legal regulations.

Your responsibilities

  • Provides legal advice and counsel to ABB local management across a broad range of legal issues and manages dispute and litigation matters as directed;
  • Reviews and negotiations of frame agreements, contracts, partnerships, distribution and other contractual terms in collaboration with relevant business/function managers;
  • Anticipates and identifies legal issues of concern to local management and proactively develops effective legal strategies and practical solutions;
  • Ensures good corporate governance in the area of accountability, supports implementation of the Code of Conduct and on-going integrity training and assists in investigation and resolution of any integrity issues that arise;
  • Contributes to the development of new Group directives/instructions based on local legislation and directives. Assists with the implementation of both local and Group legal and integrity directives and instructions and monitors on-going integrity;
  • Manages and liaises with external service providers, including external legal counsel;
  • Provides legal training and awareness for employees in the business/function;
  • Supports the implementation of GDPR.

Your background

  • University Law Degree with certificate in legal practice or hold subsequent legal/professional qualifications.
  • 1 to 4 years PQE.
  • Self-motivated, confident and ability to work under pressure.
  • Team-working and cooperation.
  • Communication and negotiation skills.
  • Fluent English.
