Role -Legal Counsel - Commercial

Location - Victoria, London (flexible working)

Reporting to - Legal Director

Weezy is the UK’s leading on-demand supermarket. Our mission is to deliver life-essentials, creating ever more happy and spontaneous moments at home. We’re doing this by delivering groceries, including fresh fruit and veg, cupboard staples, pharmacy, alcohol, personal care and cleaning products in under 15 minutes. Behind the scenes, we’re building a network of fulfilment centres across London, the UK and beyond, each staffed with Weezy customer delivery reps who pick, pack and deliver our Customers’ orders.

Launched in July 2020 by Alec and Kristof, we’ve recently closed a $20m Series A, led by Left Lane Capital (past backers of HelloFresh and Delivery Hero) with DN capital, Heartcore Capital and top angel investors participating. We’re building a best-in-class team which already includes ex employees from Deliveroo, Zoopla, Farmdrop, BlaBlaCar, McKinsey, BCG and Tesco. We’re experiencing amazing customer growth, retention and NPS and looking to 40x Weezy’s footprint over the next 12 months. This is a unique opportunity to build a global consumer brand that will be instantly recognisable.

What Will You Be Doing
  • Providing general legal advice and support to the business on a range of matters including data protection, intellectual property & special projects.
  • Advising on a varied range of complex, high profile and business critical contracts;
  • Proactively maintaining and raising the profile of the legal team by developing and taking forward core team initiatives/objectives;
  • Where appropriate, instructing external counsel domestically and internationally; and
  • Helping to develop Weezy’s in-house standards and precedents.
What you will be working on in your first 3 months
  • Helping to develop an internal playbook for Weezy’s commercial contracts and general engagement with third parties;
  • Learning about all things privacy and managing Weezy’s compliance with privacy regulation as we scale;
  • Assisting with Weezy’s ongoing fundraising activities; and
  • Assisting with the day to day internal dealflow and requests for legal assistance..
Requirements

What Technical Skills Will You Bring
  • An entrepreneurial, solutions focused approach to problem solving;
  • Experience structuring, drafting and negotiating a high volume and broad range of contracts, including SAAS and PAAS contracts, professional services agreements, partnership agreements and NDAs;
  • Excellent project management and organisational skills;
  • Experience working independently and collaboratively in a dynamic and fast-moving environment;
  • Qualified lawyer with a minimum of 4-7 years PQE in a commercial department gained at a leading law firm or in-house.
