The Department of Computing consists of 5 subject groups covering Computer Science and Software Engineering, Cyber Security and Computer Networks, Digital Analytics and Technologies, Games & Artificial Intelligence, and Smart Computing. The department has strong links with industry, commerce, and the public sector; our courses have been developed alongside professional organisations and in consultation with practicing computing and IT professionals.
We are seeking an outstanding individual to make a contribution to teaching, consultancy and research in business intelligence with specific focus on data analytics and data management. You will have either a strong academic background or significant experience in leading, training or inspiring in a commercial environment.
In particular, we are looking for people who:
  • have experience and knowledge to teach SAS;
  • have experience of working with Data Analytics projects and project management in Information Systems context;
  • are committed to train on and teach Python, Python AI, R, SQL,;
  • are committed to train in Microsoft Azure, Hadoop ecosystem, Hive, and Apache spark/spark R;

A full job description can be found below, but your main duties and responsibilities will be drawn from:
  • Delivering engaging, relevant and current teaching to undergraduate and postgraduate classes both face-to-face and through online distance learning.
  • Supervising undergraduate and postgraduate projects.
  • Contributing to course management; supporting student wellbeing and satisfaction; and developing curricula and teaching materials.
  • Setting assessments, marking student work, providing timely and appropriate feedback and reporting on students’ progress.
  • Contributing to one of the departmental research groups by publishing in an appropriate specialist area and applying for external funding.
  • Contribute to knowledge transfer projects and industrial consultancy work.
