Salary Type: EHCC Scale C is £18,933 to £19,941 FTE (Actual: £14,553 to £15,531).

We have a vacancy in our SEN department to co-ordinate and deliver interventions to support pupils who have English as an additional language.

The ideal candidate should demonstrate resilience, initiative, patience and a passion for working with and assisting young people to learn. There are excellent opportunities for career progression and a full induction will be provided. Candidates must have proven literacy and numeracy skills, equivalent to GCSE grade C and above.

Successful candidates will be required to deliver interventions to individual pupils or small groups from Year 7 to Year 11. They will work closely with the SENCO and subject teachers to ensure pupils receive the best support possible. Our pupils are a delight to work with and always value the extra support offered by our exceptional Learning Support Department.

The ideal candidate should demonstrate resilience, initiative, patience and a passion for working with and assisting young people to learn. There are good opportunities for career progression and previous experience is not essential. Candidates must have proven literacy and numeracy skills, equivalent to GCSE grade C and above.

This post is particularly aimed at graduates considering a future career in teaching and is an excellent way to gain experience in a secondary school setting where the role of the Learning Support Assistant is valued by pupils, parents and staff.

LEARNING SUPPORT ASSISTANT - VISUAL IMPAIRMENT RESOURCE

Salary: £18,562 to £18,877 FTE (Actual: £12,873 to £13,265)

Contract type: GRADE: B (30 hours)

Contract term: Permanent

We have a vacancy in our VI department to support pupils with a Visual Impairment at KS3/KS4 in a mainstream context, and support them across the curriculum.

The ideal candidate should demonstrate resilience, initiative, patience and a passion for working with and assisting young people to learn. There are good opportunities for career progression and previous experience is not essential. Candidates must have proven literacy and numeracy skills, equivalent to GCSE grade C and above.

A working knowledge of Braille and/or the modification of resources for large print users is desirable but not essential as training will be given. Additionally, there will be the opportunity to gain accreditation in Braille and associated skills to support pupils with vision impairment.

The VI Learning Support Assistant will be required to:
Support in alternative study periods/curricular activities for individual pupils, in the development of their whole school independence, helping to raise standards of achievement.

Occasionally support pupils with a visual impairment on out of hours educational visits, sporting locations etc.

Modification of materials within a specific subject area, designed to meet individual needs and in co-operation with the subject and specialist teachers of the visually impaired, provide adaptation to text:

Modify text to Braille and appropriate large print using scanners and word processing

Adapt diagrams for large print and tactile users.

Prepare 3D models

Reading text to tape

Produce and transcribe Braille text (be prepared to learn Braille)

Re-align original text for photocopy enlargement

Support assistants will be given the opportunity to develop specific skills in an identified area of the curriculum, as far as possible designed to suit their interests.

The opportunity to increase personal knowledge, professional development in visual impairment and the role of the VI LSA will be offered internally and on external courses.
