Job Summary

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and passionate Learning and Organisational Development professional to join our Health in Justice HR team, supporting Organisational Development across our Health in Justice services in England.

As our Learning and Organisational Development Manager for our Health in Justice services, you will be responsible for shaping and building a wide range of organisational development initiatives, including leading the delivery of all learning and organisational development activity across our Health in Justice services. You will lead the development and delivery of our leadership strategy to develop leadership capability across our services, driving cultural change leading to improved outcomes both in terms of service delivery and our people metrics. A strong background in organisational development and/ or system-wide working is required for this role. A ‘hands-on’ mind-set is also essential. We are organisationally lean, and whilst you will be well-supported by the wider HR team and Health in Justice leadership team, you will be the sole OD specialist in Health in Justice.
This is a national role; your base will be at home however there will some requirement to travel to our prison healthcare sites across England (our services stretch from Yorkshire to Devon and Dorset, with over 45 sites – please take a look at our map on our website for further details). Our head office is situated in Reading and we have small regional offices in Leeds, Wolverhampton and Exeter.

Your Key Responsibilities

You will:
  • Build and maintain strong and productive working relationships across our workforce, to understand people and capability requirements both now and in the future;
  • Role model and enable PPG’s values and leadership charter; fostering an environment of trust and psychological safety;
  • Provide OD support to HIJ leadership team, operational managers and front-line teams, covering a spectrum of roles from high-level advice to detailed design and delivery;
  • Complete organisational diagnosis and design and deliver OD and change management programmes to support an integrated, high performing organisation and high-quality people-focused services and contribute to the attainment of the strategic and operational goals;
  • Develop capability in our organisation and our workforce.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications – our ideal candidate:

We are looking for candidates with the following experience:
  • CIPD Level 7 and demonstrable relevant CPD Record
  • Significant experience of managing, supervising, developing and motivating staff in a team context
  • Experience of working within a Learning and Development role / environment
  • Experienced in provision of learning and development analysis and reporting to board & internal stakeholders
  • Experience in the design and development of a range of learning and development processes, activities and related reporting to support organisational training needs
  • Experience in design and delivery of leadership development interventions and training solutions
  • Experience of managing change in a large organisation
  • Experience of providing effective coaching for senior individuals (leadership coaching)
  • Experience of using psychometric tools would be an advantage, but is not a deal breaker

Additional Information

This is a full time role, working 37.5 hours per week, however working 4 days per week (30 hours) would be considered for the ideal candidate. This is a flexible role, with a base of home with some national travel to our services and Practice Plus Group offices as required.

The salary for this role will be up to £65,000 - dependent on experience plus car allowance (£4k), opportunity to participate in our bonus scheme (up to 10% discretionary bonus) and private healthcare. We offer 25 days holiday, rising to 28 days with service + bank holidays, and a range of non- contractual benefits, including cycle to work scheme and shopping discounts.
