Salary is pro rata of 38.5 hours per week.

Main Function

To align the People Development Strategy with the Human Resources and Organisational strategic plan, ensuring the services offered by the People Development team meet operational needs, now and in the future. Reporting on learning outcomes for employees and measuring success

This involves the successful induction of employees into the organisation as well as ongoing development needs throughout employment.

Identifying training gaps across the organisation and providing innovative solutions to address these.

Main Duties

  • To set out the People Development strategy, ensuring it is aligned with the HR&OD and operational strategic aims.
  • To ensure effective processes are in place to identify organisational training needs and undertake regular training needs analysis.
  • To regularly review employee and management development training. Ensuring courses are relevant and support organisational needs.
  • To ensure training materials issued are accurate, relevant and quality controlled.
  • To be responsible for the overall management and co-ordination of the People Development section with direct managerial responsibility for the People Development Advisor.
  • To work with HR Business Partners to ensure learning is embedded, reflecting changes to training as required.
  • Analyse course evaluation feedback and seek feedback from managers/HR Business Partners to identify areas of improvement.
  • To work collaboratively with other staff responsible for training across the organisation e.g. Employee Development Officers, Dementia Training Co-ordinators etc.
  • To jointly develop and lead succession planning cohorts. Ensuring the appropriate training interventions and development opportunities are identified and monitored. Linking with relevant external professionals involved in the succession planning programme.
  • To lead arrangements for the annual awards ceremony.
  • To ensure e-learning materials are fit for purpose.
  • To make timely application for existing funding applications.
  • To explore new relevant training grants and funding streams to generate income for the People Development team.
  • To effectively manage the People Development budget, ensuring value for money in the service provided.
  • To ensure information issued on mandatory training is accurate and is issued timeously.
  • To work with Human Resource Business Partner if special development resources are required in response to an operational need.
  • If required, facilitate a training course to avoid a course being cancelled.
  • To ensure the necessary audits are completed in line with the audit schedule.
  • To ensure the HR database is timeously updated with accurate training information. This involves liaising with the Employee Development Officers and Dementia Co-orindators to ensure their training records are also accurate on the system.
  • To ensure that networks are developed and maintained with a wide range of external bodies and stakeholders.
  • To ensure that where practical CrossReach training is marketed with external agencies.
  • To identify opportunities within the People Development team for developing new initiatives and discuss these with the Director of Human Resources and Organisational Development.
  • To work with the HR Systems Advisor to manage People Development systems development.
  • To prepare reports for the Director of Human Resources and Organisational Development.
  • To highlight any areas of concern or issues with training compliance with the relevant HR Business Partner.
  • To keep up to date with best practice in the social care sector.
  • As required attend Service Manager meetings to share and or gather information.
  • To prepare for, and represent Crossreach at relevant external engagements.
  • To demonstrate and share Christian love and support including by leading of worship in accordance with CrossReach policy, and by ensuring all staff meetings are opened with prayer and Bible reading.

Qualifications

A relevant degree/diploma/other appropriate HR/training related qualification/ relevant professional qualification.

Commitment to ongoing CPD particularly in the area of training and development.

Skills and Abilities

Essential:

Experience in a Line Management role in a Learning and Development environment.

Previous experience in training design and delivery.

Experience of identifying training needs and developing innovative training solutions

Experience in developing management information to inform decisions.

Strong communication skills.

Good planning and organising skills

Good computer literacy skills including use of Microsoft Office and the internet.

Desirable:

Experience gained in a social care or similar setting.
