Main Function

To provide line management and leadership to transactional Finance Function, incorporating the Income Team (including Credit Control), the Accounts Payable Team and the Payroll Team. To lead on process improvement in each area, as the Organisation’s specialist on Kontrolla (workflow/accounts software).

The role will also involve related monthly and annual accountancy work, such as reconciliations, preparation of supporting schedules, resolution of queries from stakeholders, requiring the post holder to work flexibly and accurately under time pressure to achieve organisational targets.

Main Duties

  • To manage the three teams in such a way as to maximise efficiency and effectiveness, and to identify ways of addressing periods of peak demand.
  • To be the internal subject expert on Kontrolla software, and to act as a bridge between the technical approach of the provider, and the operational imperatives of the users such as to ensure an optimal working platform for Service Administrators and Managers.
  • To identify and implement process improvements in all areas of transactional accounting.
  • To act as the main point of contact for stakeholders, both internal and external, in relation to accounts queries; and to allocate such queries as appropriate to transactional teams or Finance Business Partners / Financial Controller.
  • To be responsible for and oversee the administration of banking / credit card operations.
  • Liaise with Service units in collating information necessary for preparation of monthly accounts and provide any assistance to Service administrative staff when necessary.
  • To assist with the production of monthly management accounts reports for the organisation, together with the compilation of necessary accrual and pre-payments, within agreed procedures.
  • To assist in month-end and year-end reconciliations of balance sheet accounts.
  • To assist with the production of schedules, and any other relevant reports, for the annual statutory audit, within agreed procedures.
  • To assist with the annual budget process, within agreed procedures.
  • To contribute to ongoing development of the wider Finance systems to meet business requirements.
  • To assist the Financial Controller and Finance Business Partners prepare and maintain financial policies and procedures, to include maintaining and updating the Financial Procedures Manual.
  • To oversee banking postings and bank reconciliations.
  • To stay abreast of current developments in the relevant areas including legislative changes to inform practice.
  • To undertake tasks or duties to support the Financial Controller, Finance Business Partners and Director of Finance & Resources as required.
  • To demonstrate and share Christian love and support including sharing with others the leading of worship in accordance with CrossReach policy and by ensuring all staff meetings are opened with prayer and Bible reading.

Qualifications

Essential:

Relevant accounting qualification – CCAB, achieved or imminent.

Qualification by significant experience may be considered.

Skills and Abilities

Essential:

  • Relevant experience as a Finance Manager or similar role within a Finance Department.
  • Experience of managing and leading staff.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced Excel including LookUps and Pivot Tables.
  • Ability to prioritise workload and manage varied demands on time.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of Sun Accounting System or similar.
  • Experience in finance process improvements.
