Learning and Development Trainer

Do you have a passion for learning and development and supporting the development of other people?

Gloucestershire Constabulary’s Learning and Development department delivers solutions to equip police staff, officers and volunteers with the skills, knowledge and support to embed supportive leadership at all levels across the organisation.

Based at our state of the art facility at The Sabrina Centre in Berkeley, this role will report to the Deputy Head of L&D, within the Leadership Academy.

The Leadership Academy delivers short and long programmes alongside a range of CPD packages and events to share best practice and the latest thinking to support the ongoing development of our leaders and ensuring the wellbeing of our teams while improving the performance and quality of service to the public.

You will be involved in the design and delivery of a range of programmes on topics including: leadership at all levels; inclusion and diversity; interpersonal skills; experience of coaching and mentoring. These may be classroom-based; hybrid; in-the-workplace; or one-to-one.

Responsibilities include:

  • Design, develop, and deliver training and course material to meet organisational needs and requirements.
  • Conduct full training needs analysis based on organisational requirements.
  • Contribute to, and undertake evaluation to support continuous improvement of our provision.
  • Undertake assessment of learning, utilising different assessment methods subject to student or programme needs and complying with national and/or local standards.
  • Contribute and undertake quality assurance requirements to comply with national and/or local standards.

Position Requirements:

Essential

  • A Levels (or equivalent relevant experience)
  • Either possess a training qualification or award at minimum of Level 4 OR demonstrate experience of leadership/managing people and be prepared to work towards a qualification at this level.
  • Experience of acting as training consultant / adviser to departmental managers, line managers
  • and project teams
  • Experience of workplace coaching (particularly at line manager level)
  • Experience of using a blended learning approach to training design and delivery
  • Experience of promoting fair working practices in line with equality related legislation in the design and delivery of leadership and management skills training

Desirable

  • Hold an Assessors Award A1 (or equivalent)
  • Experience of assessing individuals against formal standards e.g. NVQ, role profiles or other
  • occupational standards
  • Experience of facilitating 360 feedback using computer based systems
  • Experience of self-organising, coordinating and delivering locally based learning interventions
  • Experience of working unsupervised whilst maintaining expected standards of work
  • Experience of using a range of tools to explore leadership style or personality profile is MBTI, Strengthscope etc

There are two permanent positions available. One 37hrs per week and one 21hrs per week (days and hours to be agreed) based at the Sabrina Centre in Berkeley, Gloucestershire although opportunities to work in an agile way will be supported.

Closing date 28th November. Interviews: 5th and 6th December

10min presentation (topic will be shared in advance off interview) followed by an interview.
