Job overview
Are you an aspiring or existing curriculum leader, keen to work in a dynamic environment and inspire students to love your subject? If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you!
The role
We have an exciting opportunity for a new Lead Teacher of Drama to join KAA and make a huge difference. The successful candidate will be joining a wonderful school - with a passion for Performing and Creative Arts. KAA invests heavily in PCA subjects in a way that is uncommon for mainstream secondary schools and the Drama lead would feature heavily in this provision and make a real contribution both inside and outside the classroom.
This opportunity would be perfect for an existing department lead looking for a new challenge, or a talented classroom teacher ready to take the next step.
What you offer
You will be an excellent teacher in your own right, with the potential to coach and develop those around you. You will be knowledgeable about your subject and able to think creatively about how to inspire KAA students with the curriculum. You will be reflective and resilient in the face of setbacks, and be open to making improvements to your own practice and that of your department.
What KAA offers
The successful candidate will be joining a team that is firmly committed to making KAA one of the best academies in the UK. The value of being part of a great team should never be underestimated. Being a member of KAA means you will be joining a supportive and talented group of staff who will invest in your professional development. This role will be excellent preparation for your future career, wherever that may take you. Further information about the unique benefits and strengths of KAA can be found via our website.
The role is being offered on a full time / substantive basis.
Application process
The deadline for applications is 9am on Wednesday 6th December. Interviews will take place soon after the deadline and, where possible, candidates may be contacted ahead of the application deadline.

KAA is an 11 – 18 academy situated in the heart of Notting Hill. We opened in brand new buildings in 2014 with just Year 7 and our facilities are second to none. We are now in our ninth year of operation and are a full school with 1,250 students in Years 7 to 13.
KAA has grown to become one of the top academies in the UK. Our Ofsted report grades us outstanding in all categories and describes standards as “exceptional”. In 2018 we were awarded TES Secondary School of the Year, and our 2022 Good Schools Guide review praises the “phenomenal” education students receive.
Why work for KAA?
Making a real difference
KAA pursues the very highest standards in education, both inside the classroom and beyond. We believe all children can achieve good results, irrespective of their prior attainment or experiences. 60% of our students qualify for the Pupil Premium, but with our help they can overcome the barriers that relative poverty can create. Our ethos, spirit and commitment to ever-extending student achievement make KAA an incredible place to work and learn.
Unrivalled professional development
KAA is a high-performing environment where staff at all levels feel challenged and supported to achieve their professional goals. As you will see in our Ofsted report, CPD in our school is of an “exceptional” standard and is an ongoing focus for all staff. There are few better places to develop your skills as a teacher than here with us in Kensington.
Being valued
We invest in our staff and offer unique benefits, including: 180 school days (as opposed to the 190 other schools have); 15 training days (as opposed to 5); free breakfast and lunch for all staff everyday; a two-week half term in October; free staff exercise and well-being sessions, and much more.
