We’re looking for a Lead Software Developer to lead and inspire a team of smart, passionate developers and software specialists - to deliver exceptional solutions for a fast-paced, fast-growing environment.

We’re hugely flexible, for the right person we can offer fully remote or hybrid, based on your location and preference (we have offices in Brighton and Tonbridge, Kent)

"That all sounds great, but what will I actually be doing?" I hear you ask...
  • Work to achieve scalable resilient solutions which meet users’ needs and deliver solutions which will improve operational efficiency and the quality of customer user experience.
  • Develop large scalable web solutions in agile environments, handling project timing and quality targets, incorporating design, construction, and testing of modern, open web solutions.
  • Act as the "go-to" consultant due to your knowledge of technology and developments in your technical specialist area.
  • Collaborating with all disciplines in the SDLC including project management, UX/UI, design authority, quality assurance and platform ops.
  • Working closely with the Technical Leadership team, Product Owners and project management to ensure your team delivers against agreed business requirements.
  • Facilitating regular sprint planning and supporting the team to plan and estimate the project tasks and delivery dates.
  • Refining internal methodologies and processes and ensuring they are followed at all times to ensure quality deliverables.
  • Proactively participating in the team and being vocal about issues, improvements and successes.

People Management
  • Manage your team in their day to day activities
  • Develop, coach and mentor team members to be the best they can be, building their confidence, guiding them in their learning and facilitating their career progression
  • Carry out regular one to ones with team members, giving praise and recognition as well as honest, fair, constructive and timely feedback

We’re looking for a smart cookie, with a passion for working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and excellent time management and organisation skills. You’ll be highly creative with an exceptional eye for detail and your enthusiastic, positive approach will further enhance your inspirational people management. You know that the world of Dev is ever evolving and are excited about developing your skills and knowledge in development, and keen to keep up to date with new technologies.

In terms of tech skills we are looking for candidates who have experience in some combination of the following skills but not necessarily all;
  • Experience of leading and managing a diverse team of highly knowledgeable developers
  • Strong experience of server-side development with C#
  • Knowledge and experience using .NET 6, Webforms and ASP.NET MVC
  • Strong experience delivering data driven applications using SQL Server, T-SQL. Experience in debugging, monitoring and optimising SQL Server is desirable.
  • Experience with distributed cache or NoSQL systems like Redis and Elasticsearch.
  • Experienced with source control, Git/GitHub in particular.
  • Experience with Agile methodologies including Scrum and Kanban is essential
  • Practical experience in producing and consuming web services using Web API or other REST frameworks
  • Strong practical experience delivering client-side projects using HTML, CSS/SCSS, JavaScript. Experience in frameworks like React would be highly desirable.
  • Experience using testing frameworks such as XUnit, Jest, Moq
  • Experience of mobile site development including frameworks like Bootstrap would be beneficial.
  • Knowledge of build and deploy automation such as TeamCity and Octopus Deploy
  • Knowledge of message queues and Pub/Sub services such as RabbitMQ is desirable
  • Experience with identifying problems that will affect the development of projects or the platform as a whole, question what is breaking down, evaluate the cost of fixing root problems, and either fix them directly, or put things in motion so they will be fixed eventually.
