We’re looking for a Front end Software Developer with at least 3 years’ of experience under their belt, to join a talented Dev squad to design, develop and maintain everything from the front end build systems to UIs.

About Us

Atom might be a distiller, bottler, distributor and retailer of delicious booze, but since our inception we’ve understood the role that great tech can play in the evolution of our industry. This role relates directly to a major aspect of our tech platform - masterofmalt.com.

As a business we’ve grown a lot and that means we’re rebuilding much of our software to be streamlined, more scalable and faster to develop/deploy. Our fast-moving industry mandates that we’re always working on something new. We’re rebuilding the engines while flying 500mph at 30,000 feet. Our front end tech stack is primarily Javascript, React, Redux and jQuery with gulp and Webpack used for builds. We have proprietary systems in place end-to-end, from the e-commerce platform through to fulfilment, with deployments in various clouds, built on various technologies that we are constantly evolving and improving. There will be opportunities to work in any and all areas of our ecosystem.

Location:Tonbridge / Brighton hybrid or fully remote, based on you.

"That all sounds great, but what will I actually be doing?" I hear you ask...

• Front End web development with the Atom tech stack.
• Collaboration with people across the business to ensure we deliver customer focussed solutions both internally and externally.
• Actively engage in all Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, retrospectives, reviews and demos.
• Be involved in design and code reviews.
• Drive improvements in our architecture and software quality.
• Investigate and fix bugs across the whole front end ecosystem.
• Coach and mentor members of the team, this can be peers, juniors or leaders, we can all learn from each other no matter how experienced we are.
  
  

Please apply if you have...

• Your experience with client-side development is essential along with at least 3 years of practical, commercial experience of delivering performant websites, front end build systems and SEO
• Working knowledge and/or expertise in many technologies will serve you well, React, TypeScript, Webpack, Babel, Jest, RESTful APIs, CSS/SCSS. The list could go on forever, you’ll likely know a few well, you’ll certainly be someone who isn’t afraid of diving into any ones you don’t.
• You need to be a smart cookie and not afraid to utilise your planet-sized brain to solve problems to make our Atom world a better place.
• We don’t care whether you have a degree from MIT or from Scunthorpe Poly. In fact, we don’t even care if you’ve not got one at all. We care whether or not you are a capable, proactive human being who loves being a dev.
• You’ll be a critical thinker who loves finding marginal gains. You won’t fall for dogma, you’ll believe that conventional thinking, status quo and top down leadership are all there to be challenged. It doesn’t matter if it’s your boss, your boss’s boss or the CEO, if someone is making a bad decision, you’ll call it out.
• You will be a pragmatic person with a high say-to-do ratio.
• You will have a quality focus, with solid working knowledge of good testing practices.
