Further development and growth of the Integrated Clinical Pharmacy Team on Wirral has led to this exciting role for a dynamic and influential leader who wants to make a difference to population health across Healthier West Wirral PCN.

Working within the Integrated Clinical Pharmacy Service model with Acute Trust Partners provides a supportive environment with wrap around professional and clinical support and access to a range of clinical specialists which support our staff to flourish and achieve their potential for the benefit of our patients.

The Integrated Clinical Pharmacy Service has grown from 6wte to 25wte in the last 2 years as a result of its success. The Healthier West Wirral PCN pharmacy team is comprised of nine pharmacists and a technician who work across the system to deliver the best patient outcomes. There are no organisational boundaries in our approach to medicines optimisation.

The Post-holder Will
  • Lead, develop, manage and promote a responsive, proactive, patient focused, clinical pharmacy service to the Primary Care Network (PCN).
  • Evaluate the clinical pharmacy service to ensure a consistently high quality service is delivered, in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Provide a highly specialist clinical pharmacy service to patients and staff within the PCN and the Acute Trust.
  • Manage, coach and develop other pharmacy staff working in the PCN and Trust and deliver education to pharmacy, medical, nursing and other staff in medicines optimisation and management issues as required.
  • Contribute to the strategic development and monitoring of the clinical pharmacy services delivered to the PCN.
  • Act as a deputy for the Deputy Integrated Clinical Pharmacy Services Manager when required.
WUTH Pharmacy has been recognised as a high performer by NHSE and CQC. We are a large department, employing over 90 pharmacists and more than 45 MMTs alongside excellent support staff. We deliver services to the acute hospital, primary care networks (PCN) and a range of external customers for aseptic services and via our wholesaler dealers’ authority.

We are highly innovative department; recently winning, or shortlisted for national awards within surgery, antimicrobial stewardship and PCN. Our service is highly regarded by clinical teams, demonstrated by investment in a wide range of specialist roles embedded within MDTs.
