Lead Officer, Child Protection, Clackmannanshire and Stirling

This is an exciting opportunity to make a difference in Clackmannanshire and Stirling. The Child Protection Committee for Stirling and Clackmannanshire is seeking to recruit a highly enthusiastic and motivated individual to the post of Lead Officer for Child Protection. If you are ambitious and driven, with significant multi-agency child protection experience and a passion for continuous improvement, then we want to hear from you.

The Lead Officer provides professional support to the Child Protection Committee. They are responsible for the co-ordination, strategic planning and monitoring of child protection practice, policy and processes. The Lead Officer maintains an independent overview of inter-agency child protection activity and ensures continuous improvement in this field. The post holder will be active across a range of relevant forums, contributing to the sharing of good practice and positive developments in child protection at local, regional, and national level. This includes working with partners to implement the National Guidance for Child Protection in Scotland 2021. The Lead Officer works collaboratively with partners to develop child protection policies and procedures. They ensure that child protection activities are focussed to achieve sustained targets to improve outcomes for children in need of care and protection in Clackmannanshire and Stirling.

You should be educated to degree level or equivalent, have a current professional qualification eg Social Work/Nursing/Teaching/Police, experience of working collaboratively with other professionals and agencies, knowledge of recent reports/research findings into the effectiveness of child protection activities, a high level of written and oral communication skills, be able to work as part of a team but also able to use your own initiative.You will have personal qualities, professional skills and knowledge which will be applied and tested in all aspects of the role, which includes leading on focussed short life working groups and committees, establishing effective systems for quality assurance in relation to national and local objectives, and where necessary, organising local consultation events.

You should have experience of engaging with senior managers, of multi-agency working and of data gathering and analysis. Experience of producing written work to a high standard within tight deadlines is also essential, as are good time management and organisational skills.
