An excellent opportunity has arisen to join a world leading global organisation - our global FMCG client UNILEVER, behind brands such as Persil, Surf, Dove & Simple, have an opening for a Scientific Project Lead for the Skincare category.
The role will be based at based at our client’s prestigious R&D Facility in Port Sunlight, Wirral (will involve a mix of working from home and working from the office).
This is a full time, temporary role to last until the end of December 2022, paying up to £34,000 per annum, pro rata, depending on experience.
The Skin Care Cluster Design Team is seeking a Scientific Project Leader. This is an exciting chance for a job designed under the hybrid approach, which offers individuals the opportunity to work with product development in a more holistic end-to-end approach.
In this role you will have the opportunity to:
- Lead global, regional, and local projects
- Lead and deliver Innovation, renovation, Raw material contingency and savings projects.
- Problem solve and trouble shoot formulation and claims conundrums.
- Closely collaborate with regional and global formulation, claims and processing teams, while being an integral part of a cross functional team, partnering with regulatory affairs, global ingredient specialists and procurement.
- Carry out a holistic end-to-end product design role, working in all aspects of product development, from formulation design to scale up for manufacturing.
Key Competencies
- Provide leadership for technical aspects of project development (TPL), including project management activities, budget management, holding others accountable, ensure project delivery on agreed technical targets and support decision making process for product development related matters.
- The development and recommendation for a wide range of products and formats. Development involves working through a formulation proposal in line with claims ambition.
- Brief and approve formulation specifications, approve Artwork, and manage PIF (Product Information File) product compliance.
- Work closely with other functions, such as marketing and supply chain, to create, develop and deliver new products and innovations
- To partner with the regulatory affairs teams and global ingredient specialists to be on top of the continuous EU ingredient regulations and restrictions.
- Partner with procurement and sourcing units to support ongoing production and continuity of supply.
Key Requirements
- Experience in a Project Lead role from a scientific background
- Experience with product development (formulation and claims)
- A creative, logical, and analytical mind to generate innovative design solutions to technical design problems.
- Ability to respond quickly to change in priorities.
