We are currently looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our team in the position of Land & Minerals Surveyor at Measham.

The Role

The Land & Mineral Resources Department provides a property, planning, environmental, sustainability and geological / geotechnical support function to the business’s property portfolio. The role of Land & Mineral Surveyor will cover all business lines in supporting primarily property, planning and mineral resources matters. The role is office based, but with the requirement to regularly participate in meetings and site visits around the country.

The Role Includes But Not Limited To The Following
  • Managing and maintaining established systems for all property and planning records,
  • Leasehold and sub-letting management including responsibility for rent payments / interaction with property agents,
  • Negotiating terms for procurement of land & mineral resources / lettings, plus disposals as required and coordination of legal advisors in doing so,
  • Coordinating and where relevant negotiating Non-Domestic Rating liabilities,
  • Project management of planning projects including EIA developments,
  • Managing and maintaining extant planning consents, including preparation of relevant compliance submissions to relevant authorities,
  • Public liaison for existing and proposed planned developments,
  • Inspire and progress new and existing biodiversity & sustainability initiatives within a property context
  • Geotechnical / Permitting management where applicable to successful candidate
Job Requirements

The role holder is expected to have:
  • Established capability in estates management (preferable to have minerals experience although this can be developed within role),
  • Project management skillsets to assist, lead and promote the implementation of planning projects and in reporting to the business,
  • Proficient negotiation skills to secure cost-effective property transactions or planning outcomes,
  • Excellent inter-personal skills both in person and written for both internal and external communications,
  • Not only to comply with, but also to lead by example on matters of Health & Safety (in role training will form a prerequisite to the position),
  • To work independently, effectively and in accordance with operating procedures,
  • To attend training/development courses as and when required to both personal and functional development and improvement,
  • Complying with the competition legislation and all related company instructions, procedures & policies.
Education/Qualification
  • Degree level Estates Management / Mineral Estates Management or other similar qualification,
  • Chartered (or working toward) RICS professional status,
  • NEBOSH certificate (or equivalent level) in Safety Management; or to be undertaken as an internal development program to attain this level within 18 months of appointment,
  • Quarrying knowledge / experience / qualifications preferred,
  • Geotechnical & Quarry Regulations 1999 experience (or attainment required as part of role)
  • Strong systems and IT skills
