Edwards are looking to recruit for a Senior Manufacturing Support Engineer on a contract basis to support the ETO and CTO teams with a large project, based in Clevedon.

Purpose of the role –

To form a liaison between the ETO and CTO teams and the shop floor in terms of providing expertise for testing abatement systems and upgrades prior to shipment.

This is to include the understanding of the special-to-type requirements for each system/upgrade, preparation of appropriate documentation and involvement in the testing and recording of results for a wide variety of complex abatement systems.

This role is expected to expand to cover other areas including the assessment of customer requirements before and during the design process to ensure unit testability, involvement in safety reviews and HAZOP assessments.

Main Responsibilities –
  • Analysis of requirements to determine what testing will be required and how it is to be performed.
  • Formal authoring of test documentation that is clear and workable in the test environment but that also forms a traceable route back to the requirements of the system.
  • To provide support to the shop floor for testing of non-standard systems.
  • To liaise with the Engineers to determine and define the correct level of testing.
  • Understand the reason for tests and to determine the applicability of a test procedure to determine the required information.
  • Knowledge of the development test, type test and production test phases of the engineering process.
  • Ability to work with test personnel to perform testing which is away from the normal tests performed and use influencing skills to ensure tests are carried out and recorded correctly.
  • Attention to detail and right first time approach.
  • Good written and oral communication.
Skills / Qualifications –
  • Use of Microsoft Office
  • Hands-on experience of abatement systems
  • Generation and modification of HMI Configuration files
  • Knowledge of HAZOP processes, Safety Reviews and formal product definition.
  • Qualified to degree or HNC/HND in mechanical or electromechanical engineering; appropriate time
  • Served apprenticeships or forces experience will be considered.
  • Practical test or assembly & test background with knowledge of build and testing of complex units,
  • Preferably in the abatement industry.
  • Experience of production industry and working under delivery pressures.
  • Knowledge of use, limitations and calibration of test instrumentation
