Our client based in Clevedon is looking for an experienced Senior HR Advisor. This role is not a work from home role and will require availability to work from the Clevedon office.

The Candidate

  • Degree or equivalent post-graduate HR qualification
  • Chartered member of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development (Desirable)
  • Extensive experience of working in HR with much of that time spent in a generalist Senior HR Advisor role, preferably in a manufacturing / engineering organisation.
  • Up to date knowledge of employment legislation and evidence of converting employment law knowledge into practice.
  • Experience of operating a continuously changing and evolving environment.
  • Experience of supporting/delivering culture change projects.
  • Line management experience (desirable).
  • High energy and motivation levels
  • Ability to work independently, whilst also being able to judge when additional support is required.
  • Ability to set own priorities, manage multiple tasks and reschedule work in a changing environment.
  • Ability to set goals and consistently deliver timely and accurate results and services
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate with empathy
  • Emotionally intelligent.

  • Fully literate in use of Microsoft office (Word, PowerPoints, Excel)

The Role

  • To provide a high-quality HR service to the Clevedon site, taking full responsibility and ownership for the implementation of the day to day, operational HR requirements which are essential for supporting the existing workforce.
  • To contribute to the development of the local HR strategy, ensuring that it serves to attract, manage, develop, and retain the employees the business needs to achieve current and future business objectives in a cost-effective way.
  • Lead on the delivery and implementation of all the operational HR requirements for the Clevedon & Bolton sites, working closely with the HR Manager, line managers and business leaders on a day to day basis, whilst also collaborating with their HR peer group to ensure provision of a high quality HR service, which leverages knowledge and resources and shares best practice.
  • Decide what action to take to achieve agreed objectives, escalating decisions of a potentially contentious nature and those outside current policy as necessary to either the HR Manager.
  • Communicate and negotiate with a wider range of employees and senior managers on a regular basis. It’s highly likely that coaching, communication, persuasion and influencing skills will be key to success in this role.
  • Liaise with senior management levels throughout the business in the UK which may involve attending meetings on cross-functional and cross-company issues and policies.
  • To provide accurate advice and guidance to line management on procedures and recommend actions on issues, the job holder will be expected to maintain a thorough knowledge of current employment legislation and company policies.
  • To provide a proactive and solutions focused HR service to the business, advising and coaching managers on a wide variety of HR and ER matters, encouraging and empowering managers to take ownership of HR issues.

To support line managers in the implementation of the HR strategy, policies, and procedures and to comply with all relevant legislation acting as subject matter expert (SME) for the following areas:

  • Talent Framework.
  • Absence management.
  • Employee engagement.
  • Diversity and Inclusivity.
  • Data compliance and GDPR.
  • Global mobility.
  • To be the first point of contact for providing coaching, support and guidance to the Clevedon & Bolton, HR Advisors and the HR & Payroll Administrator on all day to day, operational requirements.
  • To manage complex employee relations casework relating to discipline, grievance and performance and to provide advice and support to the HR Advisors where necessary with regards to their casework.
  • Assist in the provision of a comprehensive specialist HR advisory service to line managers and employees regarding contractual, legal, policy and best practice people management requirements.
  • To be the functional lead for both internal and external audit processes ensuring that any areas of risk are addressed.
  • To take the lead role or where relevant to work in collaboration as part of a project team to deliver on a variety of projects either relevant to the local entity, Division, Business Area or AC Group, as appropriate, and as defined and directed by the HR Manager.
  • To collaborate with other members of the global HR team to align ways of working and share best practice across the UK and globally.
  • To establish and maintain links with external organizations local to the Clevedon site to support the development of the Edwards/Atlas Copco employer brand.
  • To pro-actively monitor developments within HR best practice / employment law and identify and propose change where necessary.
