Thank you for your interest in working forCornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust

Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust prides itself in striving to be an employer of choice.

Our Trust objectives are:

  • Improve health and wellbeing and reduce inequalities by working in partnership and creating opportunities for our citizens.
  • Provide safe, high quality, timely and compassionate care and support, in local communities wherever possible, and informed by experience of people who use services.
  • Make Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly a great place to work in health and social care.
  • Working efficiently so health and care funding give maximum benefits.
  • Create the underpinning infrastructure and capabilities that are critical to delivering high quality care and support.

All external appointments to the Trust will be required to attend a full Trust Corporate Induction which will be held at Carew House, Beacon Technology Park, Dunmere Road, Bodmin, PL31 2QN.

At the NHS, we are reminded every day of how important life is. As a flexible working friendly organisation, we want to be sure that you can work in a way that is best for us and for our patients, and for you. Speak to us about how we might be able to accommodate a flexible working arrangement whether that’s job share, part time or another flexible pattern. In addition, although the role advertised may have a ‘home’ office base indicated, we remain committed to supporting flexibility around workplace locations. If it works for the service, we will do our best to make it work for you.

The Keyworker Role is a ground-breaking 3 year pilot initiative, developed by NHS England and NHS Improvement Long Term Plan to improve outcomes for children and young people with Autism and / or Learning Disabilities, who are either in a mental inpatient setting or who are at risk of being admitted.

The role is unique in its development of a multi-agency commitment around the child to improve health, social and educational outcomes for the child and young person.

The team will be recruited during 2020-21 and undergo extensive training ready for an operational start in March 2021. The project will run till the end of March 2022, when it will be considered for extension subject to a successful pilot. The Long Term Plan envisages national roll out of the scheme from 2023-24.

The team of 5 Keyworkers will sit alongside a new ASD Crisis support clinical team within CAMHS. The ASD Crisis team is a multi-disciplinary team including Speech and Language Therapists, Occupation Therapists, and Psychology reporting to a dedicated Team Manager. The ASD Crisis teams remit will initially target children and Young people at high risk of hospital admission and extend to the wider Dynamic Support Register cohort.

The keyworker role, will reside in CAMHS, however successful candidates will work on behalf of the local multiagency system, across Education, Health and Social Care, as part of One Vision.

Candidates will be expected to have excellent communication skills to enable them to live the journey with the young person. They will ensure that the child’s needs are modelled across settings and that barriers to delivery are flagged with relevant agencies. The Keyworkers will be assigned to a small number of young people and work intensively with them and their families. As Cornwall is a rural county there is an expectation for key workers to have driving license and access to a car.

Successful candidates will be innovative and dynamic thinkers, who place the child and young person at the heart of decision making and ensure their voice is heard. The keyworker role requires a high level of knowledge and skill in relation to understanding the complex needs of children and young people with Autism, learning disability or both, mental health and human rights.

As Cornwall is a pilot site for this project there will be collaborative working across the South West region pilot sites and specific measurable outcome measures to be completed and captured as part of the evaluation.

To achieve our Trust objectives, we prioritise the development of our staff. To support this, the following opportunities are available:

  • Protected CPD time for registered staff
  • Access to a dedicated central development fund supporting CPD for all staff
  • Leadership and Management development programmes
  • Coaching and mentoring opportunities
  • A full clinical induction programme for operational skills
  • Access to a care certificate programme for our band 1-4 clinical staff
  • A bespoke and robust preceptorship programme to support newly qualified staff
  • Individual professional development programmes

Being part of a successful NHS Foundation Trust brings a portfolio of rewards and benefits for our staff. These include:

  • Free access to individual HARP portfolios to support revalidation for nursing staff
  • Free DBS checks where required
  • Discounts available from retailers, UK hotels and main attractions
  • NHS Pension Scheme
  • Salary sacrifice car scheme
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Childcare vouchers
