Junior Web Developer (Front End)

We are currently looking for a Junior Web Developer (Front End) to join our supportive Development Team.

About you:

• An understanding of the latest web trends and their role in a commercial environment
• Some knowledge and experience of Programming languages such as HTML5, JavaScript and PHP

Specific knowledge requirements (one or many):

• HTML5
• CSS
  Javascript
• Deep understanding of Wordpress
• Experience of development methodologies (such as Agile and Waterfall)
• Version control systems, and a thorough understanding of the architecture of web
• Database understanding MySQL
• Build websites and campaign landing pages based on a brief and initial designs
• Proactively look for new technology, plug-ins and ideas to improve the user web journey
• Keep websites updated with the latest software updates and assist with any changes which could impact on Google rankings
• Share best practice with the marketing team and highlight superior/cool websites we can learn from
• Oversee the performance and risk analysis of the website i.e. speed, traffic and downtime, errors, broken links and hacking etc and mitigate any issues
• Work with the marketing team on ways to improve traffic, conversions and the user journey
• Ensure that websites meet with all accessibility criteria and GDPR
• Apply SEO and educating the marketing team so copy helps with website performance

Qualifications:

There is no formal qualification needed, as knowledge, experience and mindset are usually the most important requirements, although we would prefer applicants to have a technical degree or equivalent if possible (or be working towards one). Short university, or equivalent, courses on specific topics like developing web applications in PHP, Node, React and MySQL, and computer science would be beneficial.

What you’ll be doing:

• Discussing user requirements and proposed solutions with team lead
• Implementing new designs
• Test sites and applications in different browsers and environments
• Document code, so other developers can understand and contribute to it
• Test new features thoroughly to ensure they perform the correct task in all cases
