An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced senior to join our busy Landed Estates Team at PKF Francis Clark. The department provides accounting and tax compliance services, and tax planning advice to complex landed estates throughout the south west and further afield.

The successful candidate will be involved in the provision of accounting and tax compliance services. There will be opportunity to progress within the department and to become involved in advisory work, commensurate with knowledge and experience.

We operate a hybrid working approach with a mix of home and office working.

About you:

  • ACA/ACCA qualified (or equivalent) or qualified by experience, with significant relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Good technical knowledge of accounts preparation and tax compliance, including capital transactions
  • Committed, logical and accurate, with a methodical approach to work and strong attention to detail
  • Experience in servicing different types of business entity
  • Experience in using accounts and tax return software
  • Proficient in MS Office (with strong Excel skills), Sage, Xero and QBO
  • Applicants should be accurate, analytical and methodical in their approach to work
  • Able to work independently and demonstrate initiative in delivering an excellent service to clients

What you’ll be doing:

  • Planning, preparing and completing accounts. Some of these clients comprise more than 20 different legal entities with inter-entity balances and transactions. Many of the entities are trusts, often requiring bespoke accounts preparation using Excel
  • Reviewing accounts and working papers prepared in-house by the client’s Estate Office; to identify tax issues, to ensure that we obtain all the information necessary to prepare tax returns correctly, and to provide a quality assurance service for the accounts
  • Preparing tax computations and tax returns
  • Supporting the work of less experienced team members
  • Identifying financial, commercial and tax planning opportunities for clients
