Band 6 Ward Sister – 37.5 Hours per week fixed term/secondment

We are seeking a motivated, enthusiastic and forward thinking professional for the position of Junior Ward Sister within our friendly hospital at Glastonbury. This is a 6 month fixed term contract of 37.5 hours worked flexibly over 7 days, which could also be a suitable secondment/developmental opportunity for the right candidate.

The successful candidate will have excellent clinical and leadership skills and be responsible for overseeing the ward staff’s development in maintaining and improving standards of care in assessing, implementing and evaluating patient’s treatment plans and take the lead in the development of staff’s clinical skills ensuring continued high quality care.

You will provide nursing care to patients ensuring that patients and their families are treated with compassion, dignity and respect alongside a multi-disciplinary team of therapists and Social Care, therefore collaborative communication skills will be a necessity. You will be able to promote a safe environment for patients and staff members and oversee the principles of safer staffing on the ward. You will also be responsible for presenting quality information at the PDF meetings.

As a Ward Sister you be expected to be a role model for Staff Nurses and Health Care Assistants and ensure staff of all grades are supported in their work. You will also be responsible for the completion of audits and reports with the guidance of Matron and/or Senior Ward Sister.

You will be required to work flexibly on an internal rotation, which will include working days and nights over the seven days. In return you will receive enhanced payments for weekend work, a generous holiday entitlement and pension scheme. A relocation package is also available.
