Junior Project Manager

We have an exciting opportunity for a Junior Project Manager to work on our EDF Project Controls Framework at Hartlepool.

This role requires CTC clearance, therefore the ability to obtain CTC clearance is essential.

Costain supports EDF Energy Generation to maximise the lifespan of its eight UK nuclear power stations and prepare for defuelling and decommissioning. Costain’s role is to provide project controls and commercial managed services to portfolios and programmes of work across EDF’s UK nuclear power stations. As part of this work Costain will develop people capability in core project control skills and provide specialist support to EDF’s Central Technical Organisation to improve project performance and deliver cost efficiencies.

As a Junior Project Manager your will support either Project Manager or Senior Project Manager in managing allocated work from assignment to close out covering all duties related to work delivery as requested by the Project Manager or Senior Project Manager in order to ensure that the work is conducted in a safe, timely and effective manner to its conclusion.


Key Responsibilities & Outcomes

  • Identifying, implementing and complying with applicable technical, safety, environmental and quality standards, company procedures and policies and other relevant legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Support the Project Manager with day to day activities required to deliver work in line with the project plan including safety, quality, schedule and cost objectives.
  • Facilitate, run and chair project meetings (including regular progress meetings) as required and delegated by the Project Manager.
  • Prepare and maintain project documentation including Project Definition Document, Quality Plans and other documents as required.
  • Prepare Enquiry specifications and support the process of contractor selection and contract placement.
  • Review and, where delegated by the Project Manager, approve project documentation including contractor’s project documentation where applicable.
  • Carry out financial and technical appraisals of project options, perform feasibility studies, site surveys and liaison with designers, engineers, safety case specialists and station staff as required.
  • Manage the delivery of assigned small projects, jobs and tasks ensuring that the work is conducted in a safe, timely and effective manner in line with the relevant procedures.
  • Delivering allocated roles and tasks in a safe manner to the specified functional criteria, goals and objectives, compliant with appropriate legislation, Project Procedures and within the approved project baseline, scope, cost, schedule and quality requirements. Early identification of issues and/or concerns that either have the potential or will impact the project baseline.
  • Providing accurate and timely information, data and reports regarding the project status, activities and performance.
  • Managing assigned small projects, jobs and tasks ensuring that the work is conducted in a safe, timely and effective manner in line with the relevant procedures.

Qualifications

    A degree or equivalent qualification in an appropriate discipline with a formal Project Management qualification
