Due to our exceptional journey of planned growth here at Cooplands; we have a brand new role for a Junior Ingredients Buyer to join our expanding Procurement team.

Reporting to the Head of Procurement and working alongside multiple internal teams and external Stakeholders; this role will support the management of a wide portfolio of ingredients for a range of products.

The successful candidate will take full responsibility for effectively managing projects focussed on cost savings, sustainability, and manufacturing capabilities.

Other responsibilities will include –

  • Working collaboratively with Marketing, NPD, technical, and the manufacturing team to develop and manage ingredient requirements for the business
  • Monitoring commodity and harvest movements
  • Working with new and existing suppliers to deliver NPD requirements
  • Benchmarking, evaluating, selecting, and negotiating with suppliers
  • Contributing towards the development of sourcing strategies
  • Researching and tracking the latest trends and innovations coming through
  • Developing a strong understanding of the origin of ingredients and sustainability programmes
  • Contributing towards business reports
  • Developing a pipeline of cost out initiatives to hit a defined target, without compromising on quality
  • Working with manufacturing and technical to ensure all NPD is fully trialed and approved
  • Placing contracts at the best point in the market

The ideal candidate will have –

  • Experience in a food environment
  • At least 1 years experience in a buying role preferably, but this is not essential!
  • Good analytical and numeracy skills
  • A passion for food
  • An interactive and positive people approach
  • A keenness to learn
  • A willingness to work towards MCIPS
