POST OF JUNIOR CLINICAL DEVELOPMENT FELLOW IN ACUTE MEDICINE / MEDICINE OF THE ELDERLY (3 posts)

Fixed Term: 2nd August 2023 to 6th Aug 2024

We are currently recruiting Clinical Fellows to join us in delivering high quality medicine to the adult population of Fife, working as part of the existing Acute Medical, Medicine for the Elderly and Stroke Medicine teams.

The Acute Medicine posts will be based within Admissions Unit One. Medicine for the Elderly posts will be based within the Acute Geriatric assessment wards, community hospitals and Hospital at Home. Stroke Medicine is based predominantly in Acute Stroke Unit, however, there may be an opportunity to do outpatient and community rehabilitation if the candidate desires. For further information see job pack. There is a full commitment to the acute medical rota (nights, weekends and long days at GPST/ CT1 level) with flexibility to allow acting up at Medical Registrar level for trainees with appropriate prior experience.

It is anticipated that applicants may wish to rotate through two or three of the above posts over 12 months (can be discussed on a case by case basis).

Opportunity and time for delivering teaching and quality improvement is provided, and previous Fellows have achieved national publications/presentations and teaching qualifications /award nominations in these areas during their time with us.

These posts provide the ideal opportunity to gain more experience and hone your CV in a broad range of areas, with previous Fellows successfully being appointed directly into competitive CMT, GPST and ST3 training programmes as a result.

We would be happy to consider applications on a part-time or job share basis and NHS Fife has a number of Family Friendly Policies.

Informal enquiries should be directed to Dr Sean McAuley (Sean.mcauley@nhs.scot) Consultant Geriatrician or Dr Caroline Bates, Clinical Director (caroline.bates3@nhs.scot). Visits to meet us and our current Clinical Fellows are welcome.

NHS Scotland is committed to encouraging equality and diversity among our workforce and eliminating unlawful discrimination. The aim is for our workforce to be truly representative and for each employee to feel respected and able to give their best. To this end, NHS Scotland welcomes applications from all sections of society.
