10 Month Contract - likely to extend for the right person!

36.5 hours a week with a lunchtime finish on a Friday! (08:30-16:30 Mon-Thurs, 08.30 - 12:30 Fri)

Up to £21.75 per hour PAYE / Up to £29.20 per hour via an umbrella company

We’re looking for a Junior Buyer/Buyer/Purchasing Analyst to use their procurement expertise to implement local and regional sourcing strategy, for a globally renowned Fortune 100 articulated truck manufacturer in Peterlee. This is initially a 10 month contract, which is likely to extend for the right person! Could this excellent opportunity be the next step in your Purchasing career?

What will the Junior Buyer do?

  • Indirect purchasing - buying all items for the facility
  • Analyse financial reports, price proposals and other technical data
  • Approve purchase orders, solicit bid proposals, review requisitions for goods and services.
  • Review/optimise suppliers based on price, quality, selection, service, support, availability etc
  • Evaluate and monitor contract performance to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and to determine need for changes
  • Instruct colleagues on how to resolve problems related to undelivered goods
  • Travel: travel is extremely limited, it’s rare you would be asked to travel.

What skills and experience will the Junior Buyer need?

  • Procurement background e.g. Junior Buyer or Purchasing Analyst - you’ll need to be able to analyse financial reports, price proposals and other technical data.
  • Negotiation skills - used to working with suppliers to manage supply chain
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, positive outlook for a win/win resolution
  • Ability to prioritise work in a dynamic environment
  • Strong Excel skills. Used to using Microsoft Office, Visio & purchasing systems
  • Indirect purchasing experience would be an advantage
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and QCLDM - desirable
