An exciting opportunity has arisen for 2 enthusiastic and motivated individuals who are keen to develop their skills within this exciting specialist cancer nursing role.

The successful candidate will work as part of an excellent team to deliver high quality clinical care.

The role of the Clinical Nurse Specialist in Cancer Care can be complex and varied, involving interventions and communication with multiple health care professionals across primary and secondary care and other private and charitable organisations. The CNS role improves the quality and experience of care for patients, reinforces patient safety, demonstrates leadership and can increase productivity and efficiency (Macmillan 2013).

The successful post holder will be supported by the Lead Upper GI Cancer Nurse and support from the Lead Cancer Nurse and Directorate Manager in Gastroenterology, and with the Macmillan badging will have access to CPD. The post holder will work across both sites and work closely with 3 specialist centres within Merseyside and Cheshire Cancer Alliance

St Helens & Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (STHK) provides clinical support to patients with cancers of the Upper GI tract. The team are responsible for both outpatient and inpatient care of patients and the Nurse Specialist service provides care across all areas of Upper GI cancer from first consultation and throughout treatment and follow up.
