The Camden Community Rapid Access Service is currently looking for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist for cover 12 months maternity leave.

Rapid Access Services is a 7-day community service based at St Pancras Hospital comprising of three pathways (Rapid Response, Discharge to Assess and the Camden Accelerated Discharge Service) which work together alongside physiotherapists, highly skilled nurses and support staff to prevent admission to hospital for the acutely unwell patient or facilitate early discharge from the local hospitals for patients both medically fit and medically unfit. All three teams work together to act quickly, usually on the day of referral, with an agenda to reduce hospital bed days and holistically care for the patient in the best place possible; their home. The caseload is predominately, but not exclusively, elderly with a bias towards the acutely unwell individual therefore you will increase your knowledge and skills of medical conditions, their effect on function and how to swiftly resolve any barriers to patients remaining at home whilst recovering.

Experience of working autonomously is essential as our team is often faced with some challenging situations which present themselves in the home environment, but as an occupational therapist, this truly is the best place to assess someone’s functional performance. You will have an interest in working as part of a team to provide high quality, patient centred intervention and will have a leadership role in the day-to-day operational management of junior staff and monitoring the quality of care given. The post holder will be expected to identify and promote areas for service development.
