Waltham Forest CAMHS are looking for a motivated and skilled clinician to join our busy Access Team.

In this role, the successful candidate will be part of a team operating as the "front door" of CAMHS. They will be responsible for working on a duty system to respond to new referrals into the service; prioritising and responding to risk; ensuring that young people and families are supported to be able to access the service and addressing any potential barriers. Effective communication, time management and decision making skills are essential.

The post holder would be expected to conduct holistic assessments of young people who may be experiencing mental health needs or neurodevelopmental difficulties, including an assessment of their mental health, risk to self and/or others, possible safeguarding risks, social circumstances and relationships. They will use this information to work with other professionals to develop a formulation of the young person’s difficulties in order to identify those who may require additional support, either within CAMHS or from other agencies or services.

The post holder will also offer brief evidence-based interventions to young people during the assessment period. This may include direct sessions with young people, either in the clinic or in other community locations, or the provision of resources and signposting to other agencies.

Probationary Period

This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

Assessment/Interview Info

At NELFT we set very high standards to ensure we provide quality services. We require prospective employees to carry out an online literacy and numeracy test, equivalent to NVQ Level 2. Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham Essex

High Cost Area Supplement - London

This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £3,784 to a maximum of £4,822).
