Our community services are provided in clinics, hospitals and in people’s own homes, and include:

A great deal of work has been done on the development of the quality of experience of staff and the people who use our services. The Redbridge Community Recovery Service looks after patients who are on Care Programme Approach (CPA) and also non-CPA patients with Severe and Enduring Mental Health Disorder.

The objective of the Service is to provide comprehensive evidence based multi disciplinary care through health and social care interventions reducing hospital admissions and promoting recovery, well being, social inclusion and social functioning. The Service seeks to assertively and proactively engage with patients and carers and is locally led through strong collaboration and partnership working between the clinical (consultants) and operational leads (team managers). All service users have individual care plans focusing on their psychiatric, physical, social and occupational needs. The Service is in constant liaison with other local services such as access and assessment teams, home treatment teams, perinatal service, psychiatric liaison, psychology, and GPs and also other relevant agencies such as the local council. There have been recent initiatives aimed at improving engagement with GPs and public health colleagues with a view to strengthening interfaces. The Service has two multidisciplinary mental health teams namely Community Recovery Team East (CRTE) and Community Recovery Team West (CRTW) covering the East and West sectors respectively in Redbridge. The Community Recovery Team East has a caseload of approximately 391 patients. About 350 of these patients are on CPA and 41 are non-CPA patients. There is at present 1 full time and 1 part time 0.5 wte consultant, 1.0 wte staff grade psychiatrists, 1 higher trainee and 1 junior trainee in CRT east. The post you would be covering has an approximate caseload of 90 patients including about 20 non-CPA patients approximately. Dr Anand who works part time has caseload of around 90cases. Dr Dunne’s caseload is around 200. Caseload numbers can fluctuate depending upon referral and discharge rates.

CRT west caseloads are around 350 patients. CRT west covers the west sector of Redbridge. There are 2 full time consultants on the west team. 1 part time SPR, 1 junior doctor and 1 staff Grade doctor.

The Service accepts referrals for adults from 18 to 65 years of age. Sources of referral include the Intake & Home treatment teams, Inpatient wards, Psychiatric liaison Service at King George’s Hospital and Forensic services. GPs can also re refer patients who had been previously under the care of the Community Recovery Service. Referrals to the East team tend to vary between 0 and 5 per week approximately. All referrals are discussed in dedicated weekly referral and allocation meetings and those who meet criteria for the Service are accepted into the Service. Factors which are considered in accepting referrals include age between 18 and 65, severe mental disorder with or without any comorbidities, significant risk history/potential for risk incidents, multiagency involvement, engagement problems and need for community recovery service input to reduce risk/distress/hospital admissions and to facilitate recovery with improved functioning.

This is a part time 5PA consultant post in General Adult Psychiatry in the Community Recover Team East based at Mellmead House, 4 Orchard Close, Rodney Road, Wanstead E11 2DH. The employing organisation is North East London NHS Foundation Trust. The doctor will be working closely with other consultants in Recovery Team and all consultants will be expected to cross cover annual leave and sickness.

The post holder will be a GMC registered clinician responsible for patients allocated to them and will assess, manage, plan and deliver care, including being professionally and legally accountable.

The post holder will support their peers and team leader and be an effective team member whilst working on their own initiative. They will supervise junior colleagues. They will have a commitment to collaborative working and actively supporting and liaising with other health and social professionals and agencies.

The post provides sound clinical experience including in areas such as assessment and management of a broad range of mental health conditions, mental state examinations, risk assessments, medical treatments, multidisciplinary model of team working, interface with primary care, cross cultural psychiatry.

On call

The out of hours on call rota is 1 in 50 offsite rotas. It covers the A&E departments of Whips Cross Hospital, Queens Hospital Romford and King George Hospital in Goodmayes, Sunflower court and 136 Suite as 3rd on call with a CT as first on call and an ST second on call.
