Role Profile – IT Support Technician

Purpose:

Support all IT related activities across the organisation ensuring that hardware and software systems are fit for purpose and proactively managed / maintained to minimise downtime. Ensure that Information Security is embedded and appropriate throughout all company systems.

Maintain organisation effectiveness and efficiency by defining, delivering, and supporting strategic plans for implementing information technologies.

Location: Poole Site

Reporting to: IT Manager

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide a 1st and 2ndline technical helpdesk support service across all company sites to all users. Respond within agreed timescales to call-outs
  • Manage backup, security and user help, conducting regular checks and audits on network and data security
  • Develop and implement IT policy and best practice guides for the organisation, creating procedural documentation and relevant reports
  • Manage timeframes for major IT projects including system updates, upgrades, migrations and outages. Support the roll-out of new applications
  • Consult with users, management, vendors, and technicians to assess computing needs and system requirements
  • Preserve assets by implementing disaster recovery and back-up procedures alongside information security and control structures
  • Maintain quality service by establishing and enforcing organisation standards
  • Set up new users’ accounts and profiles and deal with password issues
  • Continuing personal development to maintain professional and technical knowledge, attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, benchmarking state-of-the-art practices, participating in professional societies

Experience & Essential Qualities:

Essential:

  • Windows 10/11, Mac OS, Chromebooks, IOS, Android
  • Printing, Backup Systems & Networking
  • Microsoft 365
  • MDM for iPads, phones etc.
  • VoIP phone systems
  • Conform to ISO 27001 Standards Technical Management and Understanding
  • Proven experience in 1stand 2nd line technical helpdesk support service or a similar technical role
  • Strong knowledge of computer hardware, software, networking, and operating systems
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues across multiple platforms.
  • Familiarity with IT service management frameworks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with end-users and colleagues.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities, with attention to detail
  • Self-motivated and eager to learn and develop technical skills.
  • The ability to work well under pressure with tenacity and patience
  • An understanding of business processes and constraints.

Desirable:

  • Server 2019 onwards, Active Directory, PowerShell, Backups, Group Policy, Linux, Hyper-V, VMWare and Failover Clustering
  • Networking: LAN, WAN, VPN, VLANs, Switches, Managed WIFI, Firewalls and Routers
  • Azure & AWS familiarity
  • Domain hosting and DNS experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience)

Remuneration

Salary: Up to £35,000

Working Hours: 37.5 hrs pwk

Working Pattern: Monday to Friday
