The role holder has end to end responsibility for managing complex projects - working closely with all Project Managers within the Portfolio and executing all aspects of the project lifecycle, including definition, planning, execution & implementation, governance & control, financial, resource and change management.

They will be responsible for following agreed project procedures for effective handover of the projects into Business as Usual operations and to support effective benefits realisation.

The role holder will typically be engaged in delivering one or more projects, and will be expected to support less experienced colleagues.

We will consider applications from all over the UK however there may be an expectation to travel into one of our main offices in London or Hove. We are also open to flexible working arrangements - job share etc.

  • Engage project sponsors, stakeholders and the Project Management Office to manage and orchestrate delivery of projects. Engage with stakeholders to align their project/programme with the wider change portfolio and group strategy, values and behaviour
  • Drive end to end execution of projects and be present in all fundamentals of the life of a project, including definition, planning, execution & implementation, governance & control, financial, resource and change management
  • Manage agreed steps for effective handover of projects into Business as Usual operations and to support and track projects through this process and closure of the defined project.
  • Manage the capacity, availability, problem management, change management and knowledge management activities within the team, always seeking out to feed into the Continual Service Improvement mechanism.
  • Operate the Risks & Controls Framework that is used and be confident in identifying risks, ensure they are appropriately logged and tracked at the appropriate forums, and develop action plans to mitigate or resolve.
  • Operate and manage the relevant Project Management processes and systems to ensure a consistent and good level of Project Management service that means customers’ expectations are met, are consistent with what we have communicated and is aligned to L&G’s Customer Experience and Treating Customers Fairly policy.
  • Build effective, positive working relationships with both our Third Party Service providers and the wider IT communities, to enable us to deliver a fantastic Project Management service and be viewed as a single, valued IT partner.
  • PRINCE 2 methodology or similar framework
  • Experience of Project Management methodologies including Waterfall and Agile and the appropriate application of these methods.
  • Demonstrable core skills resulting from project management experience including communications capabilities, decision making and problem-solving skills, lateral thinking, analytical and interpersonal skills
  • Exposure to financial/analytical activities and being able to contextualise financial data to support the viability of Projects.
  • Exposure to experiencing positive, challenging interactions with Senior Executives across the businesses and a desire to increase that exposure as Projects becoming larger and more complex.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to communicate effectively and confidently at all levels across the Group
  • Fundamental understanding of relationship management activity, the need to collaborate and to develop and apply the necessary influencing skills to ensure consistent Project Delivery success.
  • Ability to lead and manage a team, providing direction, guidance and coaching as required
