IT External Account Manager

Nelson Permanent Placements are currently recruiting for an External Account Manager to work for our client who operate within the IT market across the UK. Our client is a forward thinking business who are looking for an External Account Manager to be responsible for external sales, providing a selection of end-user hardware, security products and associated software licences to a selection of the client’s existing customer base.

The position will be split between working out in the field and in their Worcestershire office, recently refurbished.

As an Account Manager, you will be part of a team who have overall responsibility for the retention and growth of the client’s existing customer base.

Therefore you need a passion for building strong customer relationships and the drive to maintain the high-quality service that the client has built over 40 years.

You will also be required to grow your customer base by generating new business opportunities from customer referrals and by networking with companies in the neighbouring areas as well as maintaining retention with your existing clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Be responsible and accountable for achieving monthly, quarterly and annual targets, for the renewal of existing contracts, the generation of new opportunity sales within allocated workload and the acquisition of new customers to the company.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships through regular contact and visiting customers, (where appropriate)
  • Understand and recommend solutions you have prepared and presented yourself
  • Attend scheduled meetings with others of the team, including Line Managers, in order to discuss potential pipeline and ongoing activity
  • Manage the sales process from start to finish
  • Build strong relationships with clients and your own team members
  • Communicate and engage with other departments to resolve and process customer requirements
  • Keep abreast of technological developments to ensure you’re able to discuss potential benefits with customers
Skills & Experience
  • Previous experience in an IT environment and having a track record of achieving sales targets
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of both cloud-based and on premise infrastructure solutions with experience of Microsoft Azure and Office 365
  • Sales focused, target driven and self-motivated
  • Confident with Microsoft Office, Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Committed to creating a first-class customer service environment
  • An excellent telephone manner and good communication skills
  • Strong organisational and administration skills
  • Take pride in your work and reputation
