Description

Role title: IoT Solution Architect
Location: Newbury with occasional travel worldwide based on business need


Role Purpose:

The Vodafone Internet of Things (IoT) portfolio is designed specifically to meet the needs of new and evolving business verticals, growing at a rapid pace with a mission to connect 1 billion things by 2025 with fixed double digit growth year-on-year for revenue and connections leading the industry in IoT.

Strategic Partnerships team is part of the IoT practice in Vodafone Business platforms and solutions, responsible for identifying new technologies and partners that can enrich and add value to our IoT offering for enterprise customers, both on the wide area public network and on a private network deployment.

Critical to achieving success within the role will be to establish relationships with other teams across the IoT function, such as product management, platforms, solutions, delivery and infrastructure.


The IoT Solutions Architect shall be responsible for:
  • Assessing the customer opportunities and the solutions to be built per customer need
  • Enable sales teams and stakeholders with the steer and information on platform capabilities
  • Design and work closely with delivery teams end to end customer solutions
  • Enable integration with IT Systems and Local Market systems
  • Work closely with service design and platforms architecture teams on understanding end to end service model, integration with platforms / partners and local systems
  • Desing solutions for scale
  • Review and support delivery teams in build process
  • Align with IoT Product Management and Product Owners on backlog and capabilities
  • Support planning sessions with architectural desing capabilities
  • Consultancy for engineering teams
  • Consultancy for customer requests / demands
  • Serve as a single point of owner for solutions architecture and integration across the cross-functional team(s)


Job Responsibility


Core competencies, knowledge and experience:


Essential
  • Demonstrable and recent track record of delivering an architecture and design service on projects that span multi-disciplinary areas across OSS, BSS and Enterprise domains in a large telecommunications IT environments
  • Sound overall knowledge of application capabilities, integration, data design methodologies and industry best practices
  • Ability to understand a wide range of disciplines in enough detail to communicate effectively with experts in those areas to enable delivery of E2E solutions designs, including, as examples, IT and Network designs, customer relationship management, order management / service provisioning, service assurance processes, billing and general enterprise management functions.
  • Management of complex and conflicting priorities with ease
  • Ability to balance short term vs. strategic solutions to cater to conflicting demands

Desired
  • Working knowledge and/or experience of delivering solutions architectures and designs for one or more of the enterprise product sets ( over the top applications, customer solutions )
  • Working knowledge of TOGAF (Enterprise Architecture framework), TM Forum Frameworx (industry specific Process, Application, and Information frameworks), and UML (modelling standard)
  • Experience with managing third parties required to participate in the definition of solution designs, ensuring continuity of design with all internal aspects
  • Excellent communication (both written and spoken), negotiation and presentation skills
  • Persists when faced with resistance and convinces other colleagues of a point of view
  • Anticipates objections, builds on other people’s ideas, and improves service standards


Must have technical / professional qualifications:

Educated to degree level and/or relevant technical experience (preferably 5+ years) with a proven track record of delivering complex cross-domain IT solutions architectures and designs in the telecommunications industry
