Our Internal Communications team is the engine room for colleague communications across Sainsbury’s business, brands and channels, owning the communication of our strategy, priorities and progress and telling everyone across the business what they need to know.

As the Internal Communications Manager / Executive - Operations, you’ll use your communications expertise and knowledge of how our business works to advise stakeholders on the best way to communicate. You’ll be responsible for working in partnership with a wide variety of stakeholders to deliver operational comms across all Sainsbury’s locations – stores, depots and Store Support Centres.

You’ll be brilliant at writing clear, concise, ‘on brand’ communications, with the ability to adapt your tone and style to deliver anything from operational instructions to crisis communications or a leadership message. You’ll thrive on managing multiple projects and stakeholders, often to tight deadlines, in a fast-paced environment and always be ready to suggest solutions or try something new. You’ll also be able to keep focus under pressure, create clear communication plans and feel confident to challenge and suggest new ideas when working with stakeholders of all levels of seniority.


More About The Role

  • Be part of a creative, energetic team, with an excellent reputation for clear writing, great editing and thorough proofreading.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to write and edit detailed operational guidance for the launch of campaigns and initiatives.
  • Have the opportunity to build strong relationships and establish yourself as an operational communications expert in a specific business area.
  • Support managing the Internal Comms mailbox, providing appropriate challenge to stakeholders to deliver well written, meaningful content, while maintaining service levels.
  • Provide weekend and evening cover on a rota basis for urgent messages, and early morning cover to support the communication of business results and announcements.
  • Support the Senior Operational Communications Manager and Head of Internal Communications: Business with the drafting of leadership communications, as required.


More About You

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills and the ability to write in our company tone of voice.
  • Previous experience of planning and delivering operational communications for a complex organisation.
  • Highly organised and proactive – able to juggle and prioritise a busy agenda and respond calmly and quickly to changing situations and a level of ambiguity.
  • Ability to build strong relationships within a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Action-orientated with high energy, pace, agility and pragmatism.
  • Excellent judgement and strong attention to detail.
  • MS Office.
