Internal Communications Manager

Lookers plc, hybrid working (home and Altrincham Head Office) and UK wide travel as necessary

£40-45K – Six months Fixed Term Contract

There has never been a more exciting time to join Lookers internal communications team. This role will drive and deliver business critical internal priorities and initiatives which connect and engage our colleagues across the whole organisation.Predominantly over seeing and managing our internal communications content development and drive some external messaging.

Working with leaders and teams across our business to help colleagues connect with our values, behaviours, culture, and brand purpose and do their best work.

Reporting to the Head of Internal Communications, you’ll act as air traffic control, leading and developing internal communication plans to inspire, inform and engage our people to help foster a culture of excellence throughout our company.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Design, develop and deliver communication campaigns to support agreed business priorities. This includes end-to-end project ownership, approach, content development and delivery of communication campaigns designed for our people.
  • Lead the communications team to share information, tell stories, protect the brand’s reputation.
  • Organising, hosting, and presenting at conferences and briefings to a range of colleague groups.
  • Oversee the copy for various channels and materials including e-newsletters, Workplace by Facebook, campaign materials, video etc. This can include complex, sensitive messages (i.e. organisational change) ensuring appropriate brand style and company tone.
  • Generate new ideas for content in line with communication strategy.
  • Provide advice and feedback to stakeholders to support them in content creation both internally and externally.
  • Working with the wider People Team to measure colleague engagement and attitudes, developing responses to staff feedback
  • Working with the Marketing team to ensure internal and external brand alignment.
About You

We’re looking for fresh ideas and new ways of communicating and landing messages with our people, we are not fixed on traditional methods and are not afraid to try new ideas. You will have experience of developing internal communications team members, advising, and working with Senior Management and Directors in a corporate environment as well as:
  • The ability to inspire others through your communication with a proven track record of writing engaging content for a variety of stakeholders.
  • You’ll have experience of providing management to the internal team while act as a role model for leadership behaviours within Lookers.
  • A strong understanding of marketing and communication and educated to degree level i.e. English Language, Journalism, Marketing, or the equivalent proven experience.
  • Confident using Intranet, Internet and Content Management Systems, social media, Microsoft programmes etc.
  • Driven to deliver great results that impact what it means to work at Lookers.
  • Experience of delivering communication plans and reporting on progress whilst managing a high-volume workload.
  • Excellent written, editing, and proofing skills.
  • Articulate, creative, driven, and confident managing multiple priorities.
  • An organised and methodical approach, with strong project management skills.
  • Active listener and sensitive to other people’s emotions and perspectives.
