Rail – Electrical / Telecoms

Location – Cumbernauld

(Travel required for projects around Scotland)

We are looking to recruit an Electrical / Telecoms discipline Installer / Tester to support the growing portfolio of electrical and telecoms work throughout Scotland. To be considered for this role it would be preferable if you have current or previous experience of working in the Railway industry on electrical and / or telecoms installations and maintenance projects or frameworks.

Business Unit

The AmcoGiffen Scotland business unit is a busy and fast paced project environment involving a range of multi-disciplinary civil engineering projects, working for a varied range of clients including Network Rail, Local Authorities, Scottish Canals, national power and transport maintenance suppliers.

Projects can typically include civil engineering works and infrastructure projects such as:

Rail assets incl. bridges, footbridges, tunnels, underbridges, flood alleviation / repairs, embankments, station platforms, M&E, E&P and telecoms etc.

We currently have a number of live infrastructure projects and long term renewals and maintenance frameworks underway including Civils Asset Management (CAM), Renewals Enhancement Framework (REF) and Telecoms framework.

The Role

AmcoGiffen is looking to recruit an Electrical Installer/Tester to work on a portfolio of electrical and telecoms installation and maintenance projects throughout Scotland predominantly in a rail environment. The position requires a candidate with previous experience of electrical and/or telecoms projects/frameworks and ideally in a rail environment. Day to day you will be involved in works/responsibilities including but not limited to:

  • Demonstrate a consistently high standard of Health and Safety behaviour.
  • Develop a positive relationships with all parties associated with the contract.
  • Attend commissioning handover meetings with the clients as directed by the site Agent.
  • Responsible for reviewing and managing quality of installation works.
  • Control the “close-out” of contracts to ensure that all activities required to be completed are completed in accordance with the Contract and to the client’s satisfaction.
  • The promotion of a continuous improvement culture and the use of best practice.
  • Any other authorised duties commensurate with the role.
  • Viewing live and historical data associated with client assets.
  • Configuration.
  • Uploading and downloading software.
  • Modifying sequences.
  • Testing communications.
  • Connecting instrumentation.
  • Updating firmware.
  • Uploading saved configurations and isographs to client database.
  • Fault-finding and troubleshooting followed by relevant repair and maintenance
  • Participate in a call out rota with other framework team members covering 365 days per year 24 hours per day.


Requirements

To be considered for this role it would be preferable if you have current or previous experience of working in the Railway industry as an Electrical and / or Telecoms Installer.

  • PTS
  • Full UK Driving License
  • Relevant and recognised Electrical installations qualification
