About This Role

This is an essential role responsible for managing the deployment of infrastructure, to both the live and test environments (UK/Globally). Working in conjunction with the platform, test, design and accommodation teams as required.

As a member of the team you will be required to support the physical deployment of infrastructure in the UK and globally as required. The role will require engagement with field services (both BT and 3rd party), Operational support teams and the test engineers to deliver infrastructure to agreed timescales. Maintenance of high-quality documentations and standards in physical infrastructure engineering is a key job standard.

The role will require basic skills in design and equipment basic configuration. Maintaining SC security clearance is require to support a number of the key Cloud Communications Core platforms.

You will own and manage all associated risks providing robust mitigations.

You’ll Have The Following Responsibilities
  • Responsibility for defining, documenting, planning and executing small scale projects or one or more of the programme deliverables.
  • Owns and maintains the project deployment plan to ensure accuracy of data, monitoring timescales, resources, speed and cost.
  • Responsibility for all project and change control processes and procedures with project partners.
  • Identifies and escalates issues and risks to the success of the project programme and monitors wider risk management processes.
  • Facilitates effective working relationships with members of programme team to ensure timely inputs and develops effective business and customer relationships to hand problems and issues.
  • Supports a component of a technical project, requiring management of a limited degree of risk or business impact.
  • Reviews own work and peers’ outputs to contribute to identify and flag errors or potential issues.
  • Supports the identification and resolution of issues and defects to ensure delivery to required standard.
  • Assists with planning and monitoring of all activities, from scoping to live, to ensure agreed scope and benefits are delivered in a contained project.
  • Develops working relationships and communicates with a range of project stakeholders across teams to ensure actions completed, progress updated and impacts on other components managed.

Experience you would be expected to have

Key skill
  • Good working knowledge of BT infrastructure engineering practices.
  • An understanding of BT systems, eg. PACS, EDR, ISOS, Clarity.
  • Flexible attitude and willingness to work at different locations (occasionally overseas) often at short notice (full driving license required).
  • Comfortable working with limited supervision and willing to learn changing technology
  • Willing to undertake any duty the team is required to complete (the team complete a variety of different engineering functions)
The successful candidate will be required to carry out Network Engineering tasks, installation of cabinets, installation of equipment, cabling activities, working at height and working in confined spaces.
