Our Organisation

NHS England and NHS Improvement came together on 1 April 2019 as a new single organisation. The NHS Long Term Plan focuses on delivering integrated care to patients at the local level and we can best support the NHS to deliver this as a single integrated organisation.

At the NHS, we are reminded every day of how important life is. As a flexible working friendly organisation, we want to be sure that you can work in a way that is best for us and for our patients, and for you. Speak to us about how we might be able to accommodate a flexible working arrangement whether that’s job share, part time or another flexible pattern. In addition, although the role advertised may have an ‘home’ office base indicated, we remain committed to supporting flexibility around workplace locations. If it works for the service, we will do our best to make it work for you.

Our new operating model represents a strong shift to regional delivery supported by expert corporate teams. Local health systems are supported by our integrated regional teams who play a major leadership role in the geographies they manage.

We are jointly committed to creating and maintaining a fair and supportive working environment and culture, where contributions are fully recognised and valued by all and staff feel empowered to carry out their duties to the best of their abilities. As employers we are committed to promoting and protecting the physical and mental health and well-being of all our staff. This underpins our values as set out in the NHS Constitution, supports us to be an Employer of Choice and ultimately enables our employees to support the effective care of our patients.

The purpose of the Commercial Directorate is to support the health system in England to improve the quality, efficiency and value of its commercial and corporate services. This will be primarily achieved through: reducing unwarranted variation in service delivery of corporate functions; and, improving the commercial performance of the system, including generating income for the NHS.

As a Implementation Manager, you will work as part of a dynamic team in delivering an ambitious transformational change programme across corporate services. You will work within the Corporate Services Transformation Team alongside trusts, Integrated Care Systems and other organisations, to support them to understand and improve their current performance through collaboration and the adoption of consistent ways of working.

The Corporate Services Transformation Programme works across seven functions – finance, human resources, information management & technology (digital), governance & risk, legal, payroll and procurement – to identify and drive improvement. We have exciting programmes underway to transform Legal Services across the NHS, we are also using digital and automation to transform transactional services at scale, increasing speed and quality and freeing up capacity to add further value to the delivery of services.

Your day-to-day work will be varied and whilst it will often be related to your specific areas of expertise, it will also aim to stretch and challenge you, and may include:
  • developing and managing working relationships across the provider trust network, integrated care systems and wider health and social care organisations;
  • business improvement, transformation and collaboration plans, with opportunities for target operating model development and best practice sharing;
  • liaising with other teams in NHSI & NHSE, including the regions and system and service suppliers; and,
  • using your insights and knowledge to develop: leadership and thought pieces; materials for workshops and meetings; and, guidance and methodology packs.

If you have the professionalism, passion and skills that we need and are keen to improve the delivery of corporate services to deliver further value to the NHS then please get in touch, we are looking forward to hearing from you!
