AstraZeneca’s Digital Health R&D Patient Health & Innovation organization develops digital solutions to support our development and commercial drug portfolios. These digital solutions (e.g. Unify) encompass connected monitoring devices and sensors coupled with medical device software to:

• Improve clinical development, through optimizing data collection and improving communications between AZ, HCP and patients
• Provide enriched data sets to support regulatory submissions, and differentiated labelling
• Optimize real world medication use by patients and deliver digital interventions to improve clinical outcomes

As part of the Digital Health R&D the team will develop and execute AZ’s R&D Digital strategy. The program has already delivered the first versions of bespoke digital solutions for clinical trials globally, built on a standardized set of modules to enable identification and recruitment of patients, ongoing engagement and retention, support to sites and collection of data directly from patients.

What you will do

The Implementation Lead will lead the implementation of Digital support solutions and technology in all types of clinical trials together with the Unify Deployment team, Development Operations and other parts of AstraZeneca. The role will work closely with Clinical Project Managers, local Site Monitoring and Management organizations, as well as R&D IT to deliver fit for purpose solutions and technology to patients and site staff in the trial. You will work in a team of Implementation Leads together with the Unify Deployment Lead to jointly deliver an optimal experience for patients, site staff and study members in a wide range of clinical trials

Responsibilities:

• Work closely with the Project Directors to support the implementation of the digital technology strategies approved by the GPT.
• Cover the application of digital technologies in patient recruitment, design, data collection and analysis, as well as any Digital therapeutics.
• Work closely with CPTs, Global & Local Study Teams, Supply Teams, and other GPT sub-teams to deliver a smooth implementation of digital support solutions and medical devices.
• Ensure that local requirements associated with digital technology are incorporated in operational delivery plans – to enable successful digital technology implementation.
• Be accountable for the digital strategy implementation, extract learnings and take corrective actions where needed.
• Partner closely with IT Roles (Study Onboarding Business Analyst & ITPM) to successfully deliver to the study team the respective digital solutions.
• Build a strong network of local/site-based contacts to support implementation and troubleshooting.
• Ensure risks, issues and opportunities at the operational level are transparent and actively managed.
• Help build a learning organization: ensure that any learning associated with the programs is shared within the Digital Organization.

Essential Requirements:

• Bachelors Hons Degree in relevant scientific field
• Meaningful relevant experience in R&D and strong knowledge of Drug Development processes
• Knowledge in Digital Health applications
• Good understanding of the Clinical processes
• Excellent Project management skills, including managing vendors, budgets, timelines and risks
• Ability to work collaboratively in a cross functional setting with internal as well as external partners
• Ability to challenge the status quo, take ownership and hold self and others accountable
• Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to deal with ambiguity and build clarity
• Good communication, written and verbal, skills
• Real passion for Customers, representing the needs of multiple customers in decision-making.

• Experience of Clinical project management and delivery of clinical studies.
• Thrives in a fast-paced work environment, comfortable with complexity and uncertainty at times, lots of humour, dedication to deliver outcomes and motivated by the opportunity to rethink our approach to healthcare.
• Comfort and skills operating in a heavily matrixed organizations with excellent skills and intuition to manage the needs of various partners.
• Ability to rapidly grasp concepts and excellent ability to handle complexity by simplifying it and providing clear directions to the team
• Ability to manage and influence strategically and persuade tactfully, to acquire desired outcomes while maintaining effective, positive, organizational relationships

• Comprehensive understanding of dynamics affecting the pharmaceutical industry and needs for transformation

• Ability to work globally including international travel
