Social Security Scotland is seeking applications for an experienced Senior Front End Web Developer as part of a major flagship government programme. As an experienced Senior Front End Web Developer, you will be trusted and empowered to deploy your skills in Software Engineering across services which will impact the wellbeing of millions throughout Scotland.
This post attracts a £4,000 Digital, Data and Technology (DDaT) pay supplement after a 9 months DDaT competency qualifying period. Job description
The Senior Developer will have broad and deep software development expertise and a strong focus on delivering consistently to a high quality. This will involve being instrumental in the successful design and implementation of applications, APIs and other components. The Senior Developer will work in collaboration with the team as well as the test, infrastructure and release management functions to ensure successful delivery of national programmes.

- Remain up to date with best practice as well as new developments and trends within the software engineering and architecture industry / communities.
- Design and implement robust, scalable, open and secure services using cloud commodity services and web front-ends.
- Collaborate with delivery teams, internal stakeholders and partners to break technical requirements down into appropriate blocks of work.
- Consume web APIs, using RESTful principles, which are usable, high performance and sustainable.
- Develop and test new features and products, working with the test team to ensure that high quality code is delivered in a timely manner. The code will be performant, robust and able to be supported and maintained over the long-term.
- Coach and mentor software developers within the team
Responsibilities
