The Role

We are looking for a Human Resources Business Partner to join a high performing HR team at Edelman. The HR Business Partner will be accountable for supporting driving the HR agenda across Edelman UK & Ireland, with specific responsibility for developing and implementing an integrated people strategy for the business teams and delivering all the key people processes.

The HR Business Partner is the strategic interface between HR and the business leaders in order to embed a strategic approach to human resource development and management to deliver business results. You will act as an HR ambassador, living the Edelman values through your actions, behavior and communication.

The ideal candidate will currently be an experienced HR professional who is business focused, commercially astute and able to bring a flexible way of working to the role. You will be comfortable building strong client relationships quickly and have gained experience working in a very fast-paced dynamic working environment. You must have a proactive and positive approach as you will be working with a range of client groups and senior stakeholders with different HR requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as a strategic partner and act as the interface between HR and business leaders, managers and hiring managers
  • Implement internal programs, best practices and continuously strive to improve processes to ensure alignment with business objectives, strategies and internal/external trends
  • Coach Managers to resolve specific team or individual performance gaps and capability issues swiftly, using appropriate tools or procedures
  • Coach Managers to clearly communicate the link between the organisation, team and individual performance and related outcomes (performance ratings, compensation decisions, development decisions).
  • Recommend and approve solutions for addressing poor performance or behavior and for motivating, developing and retaining talent
  • Work with the line managers to assess learning needs in teams required to deliver the business strategy and work with L&D to develop an L&D plan to address gaps
  • Support objective/ goal setting processes, ensuring an aligned collective effort focused on business priorities
  • Understand and display good judgment regarding the overall business, applicable laws and policies, internal and external culture and values
  • Serve as an advocate and champion for diversity and inclusion initiatives
  • Developing a thorough understanding of the business’s operations, its performance drivers and metrics, in order to develop and deliver cost effective and value -added HR programmes and solutions that will enhance business performance
  • Review feedback from engagement survey as well as other people data [e.g. exit interviews, KPIs) to understand issues associated with engagement
  • Develop and implement appropriate plans to focus on building engagement where needed
  • Working effectively with the broader HR team to deliver an integrated service to our clients/stakeholders
  • Ensuring business-focused and aligned execution of HR solutions, through clear roles and ways of working between HR Business Partners and broader HR team
  • Building HR capability and credibility amongst leaders and customers through robust development and coaching.
  • Partner with the Finance Business Managers to ensure a thorough understanding of the P&L’s, developing sound commercial awareness in order to advise appropriately depending on the financial stability of the BU/company as a whole.
  • Develop and implement talent management solutions that will underpin business priorities
Experience
  • Ability to demonstrate solid HR experience across multiple sectors, industries and functions
  • Track record of building excellent relationships and credibility with senior business leaders based on solid commercial understanding and an ability to identify customer needs and go beyond just delivering defined HR solutions
  • Ability to think strategically and conceptually, and solve business problems with pragmatic and speedy solutions – assimilating issues and ideas into clear requirements, generating alternative solutions based on own insight or learning
  • Personal and career maturity to comfortably guide and coach senior leaders and managers
  • Strong communication, engagement and interpersonal skills – delivers impactful messages and influences outcomes
  • Sound familiarity with good HR specialist disciplines and how to best leverage these – ranging from talent management and career development, employee relations, recruitment, performance management, organisational development and design, compensation and benefits, to learning and development
  • Ability to get work done and make a difference i.e. performing and delivering business-oriented HR solutions and approaches through influence, coordination, and individual effort
  • A bias for action and speed, and a track record of delivering in a resourceful manner is essential
  • A relevant HR or business-related degree and post graduate qualification
  • Knowledge of UK employment legislation and experience in labour relations
