Our supportive work environment fosters teamwork and empowers you to make a real impact.You will have the opportunity to shape our HR service, collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders, and make a meaningful impact on the organisation.What You Will Be DoingAs the HR Policy & Commercial Lead (External Customers) at Dorset Council, you will play a vital role in driving the development of policies and practices for our external customers.Your focus will be on ensuring that these policies reflect best practices and meet the specific challenges, priorities, and needs of our diverse range of clients. Collaborating closely with other HR and OD Service colleagues, you will contribute to informed policy development and create frameworks that align seamlessly with customer requirements.Your unwavering commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion will be at the core of all new and updated policies, fostering a fair and inclusive culture throughout the council.In addition to policy development, you will take a service-wide lead on managing the council’s trading platform for our schools and academies. This responsibility entails ensuring that the HR service effectively meets the needs of our customers.Moreover, you will review our HR commercial offer, strategically positioning us in the marketplace and aligning our service offerings with the requirements of our external customers. Developing and maintaining our income strategy will be an essential part of this responsibility.About YouTo excel in this role, you will hold a Chartered MCIPD or equivalent qualification and/or have relevant experience. You will have a proven track record in HR policy development and implementation, demonstrating your ability to consult, influence, and advise stakeholders effectively.Your deep knowledge and understanding of people management practices and HR policies will enable you to drive positive change and foster a culture of excellence within the organisation.Effective communication is paramount in this role, and you will possess excellent skills in articulating complex concepts clearly and concisely. Your attention to detail and superb organisational skills will ensure that policies and practices are developed and maintained to the highest standards. With self-motivation and the ability to work independently, you will manage multiple priorities and deliver results in a timely manner.As a collaborative team player, you will embrace a diverse and inclusive mindset, working effectively with colleagues from various backgrounds and engaging with stakeholders at all levels. Your creative thinking and problem-solving abilities will contribute to innovative solutions that meet the needs of our external customers.Prior experience in local government is not essential, your diverse background, including private sector expertise, will bring valuable perspectives to our dynamic and inclusive team.
