HR Advisor (6 month FTC role, with opportunity to extend)

Hours 37 Hours per week

Salary £27,846 - £30,424 (pro-rata)

Location: Home/ Bristol Office, (at present primarily home based)

Second Step is a leading mental health charity in the South West offering housing, support, and hope to thousands of people with mental health and other problems. Our goal is to inspire hope and deliver change for everybody and every community we work with.

We have a great opportunity for a HR advisor able to hit the ground running and help the HR Team in enabling the organisation to achieve its goals and meet its’ responsibilities to management, staff and volunteers.

Working in a busy environment you will be working on a range of generalist HR areas across the whole organisation, particularly the management of all ER cases. This will cover issues such as sickness and absence management, probation reviews, appraisals, performance management, disciplinary, grievance, maternity and paternity leave. You will also support the HR Management Team with change management processes such as TUPE transfers, as required, and from time to time, undertake some HR project work.

About the role:
You will:
Pro-actively advise and manage the processes for all capability, disciplinary and grievance issues to ensure Second Step carries meets its legal obligations and its responsibilities to employees
Support and guide managers through HR activities including performance management, appraisals, probation reviews, recruitment and selection, salary review, etc. Ensure that data on staff is recorded in accordance with policy and data protection legislation and submitted to others within the HR department for processing.
Provide effective advice and management of change processes, such as restructure, redundancies, TUPE transfers, change of terms and conditions.
Pro-actively manage complex sickness absence, including referrals to Occupational Health and Medical capability processes.
Advise and support the development of policies and procedures, which support the achievement of Second Step’s objectives while fulfilling its obligations to employees.

About You:
We are looking for a self-starter with the motivation to quickly build relationships to support managers in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will have:
A minimum of 3 years’ experience working in a generalist HR role including complex employment relations casework
Proven up to date practical knowledge of employment legislation and its impact on HR practice
Proven track record of managing and advising on complex employee relations issues
Proven track record of advising on and supporting change management processes such as TUPE and restructures
demonstrate the ability to provide a pragmatic, flexible and pro-active advice while offering support and direction relating to the organisation’s policies, procedures and processes.
Associate membership or working towards Associate |membership of the CIPD
