My local authority client are looking for an experienced and qualified Private Sector Housing Officer to join them on a temporary basis in Grantham until at least September (if not extended) working 37 hours per week, paying between £35 and £49.99 depending on experience.

You will be working as part of a small team ensuring that quality accommodation is provided which meets housing needs. Core areas of work will include investigating and resolving housing condition complaints and reports of substandard houses in multiple occupation and the inspection and licensing of houses in multiple occupation and caravan sites.

Responsibilities Will Include
  • Providing technical advice, carrying out inspections, investigations and other such duties necessary to resolve complaints and service requests in respect of poor private sector housing conditions
  • Carrying out property surveys and inspections, making assessments under the HHSRS and preparing schedules of work where necessary
  • Working cooperatively with landlords to ensure required standards are met housing conditions improved where required
  • Taking appropriate enforcement action as required to remedy instances of disrepair and non compliance with required standards, This may include the service of Notices, collection of evidence in accordance with PACE, preparation of statements and case files and giving evidence in court/property tribunals
  • Undertaking inspections of Houses in multiple occupation, ensuring that minimum standards are achieved and where appropriate draft licences and conditions in accordance with relevant standards
  • Carrying out inspections of caravan sites and drafting licences in accordance with relevant standards
  • Creating and maintaining records and statutory registers
To Be Considered For The Role You Must
  • Have current working knowledge of legislation and enforcement procedures relating to housing conditions
  • Have a practical understanding of common housing defects
  • Have a Housing Health and Safety Rating System assessment certification
  • Have a full clean driving licence and access to your own vehicle
  • Have previous experience in a similar role
