We have an opportunity available for a Housing Officer to join our team based inBradfordon a full time, temporary basis until March 2022. The successful candidate will receive a salary of £21,583 per annum.

As our Housing Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance with the Trust policies processes, procedures and stakeholder contracts, by liaising with staff, external agencies and partners; ensuring that all properties within the allocated portfolio are safe, habitable, fit for purpose and fully equipped in accordance with the Trust policies and the terms of the tenancy agreement with the relevant landlords.

Responsibilities

Of Our Housing Officer
  • Assisting in the management of the referral process within the project
  • Leading in the assessment and management of risk
  • Working with both police and probation along with the local authority housing department
  • Providing information and advice about Welfare Benefits, especially that of Housing Benefit
  • Where tenants have a physical disability, assisting in the assessment of needs and the provision of equipment/facilities
  • Providing relevant information to tenants and getting feedback from them on occupancy related matters
  • Providing information about tenants’ rights and responsibilities, addressing breaches of occupancy with tenants using the Trust’s relevant policies and procedures
  • Signposting to and liaising with advocacy/agencies, enabling tenants to develop social skills through specific programmes provided by these advocacy/agencies
  • Taking action to address incidents of rent arrears
  • Being available for tenants wishing to move into alternative independent accommodation
  • Supporting statutory agencies in the monitoring of risk and other support/care of training factors relating to the tenants

The Bradford project has a 17-bed hostel facility as well as 24 units of move-on accommodation in the community for clients with a Bradford connection at risk of offending. You would be supported by the management team at Box Tree Cottage and have an appropriate induction so you can feel confident in adjusting to a new role. This may include shadowing staff at Horton Housing who we share a contract with to deliver our service in the community.

In our work settings delivering care, we also offer a clothing allowance for you to buy some extra clothes to ensure our employees wear freshly laundered clothes on every shift. There are changing facilities and lockers provided for this.
